The wife had a 13 MDX loaded version it was nice and fast but too small for our growing family. I have nothing negative to say about it. They are Hondas after all.

I just traded in my Carbon Bronze '08 Acura TL for a Lexus GX for the Wife...I really liked that car, only let me down once with a freak emissions issue just outside factory warranty. Loved the "wedge" design, the reliability & good engine. While I like the new Acura beak a lot better than the horrific '09-14.....I probably won't buy another TL. While upscale, There just doesn't seem to be a lot of difference between a nice Honda & a newer Acura. Right now, I'm really liking the new Lexus GS FSport.

We'really looking at a new TLX

If you're concerned about fuel economy, a nice VTECH 4 cylinder is available in new TLX....reviews say that it's the "drivers car" cause it's a little lighter, plus it's cheaper..around $30 G's. The V6 is awesome but it comes with that weird push button transmission.

Acura is excellent.

Had several of them. Favorite was an RSX-S.

Get the manual transmission.

You won't regret it.

Did you have an American made BMW?

I have no idea!

It was a 2009 328i convertible.

They make BMW's in the US?

And I make excel sheets and shite when I'm making big purchases . Do Acuras absolutely require premium? Looking at a Lexus that is a bit more expensive, but runs on regular. Over 5 years, it becomes cheaper overall. TLX definitely surprised me at how nice the interior was.

I put mid grade gas in my Acura. Same for the Infiniti that I had for 10 years.

It's tough to judge a brand by the cheapest thing they make, but yea those E9X were around long enough to get it right. That hard top convertible roof a POS?

ETA: Oh yea, the smaller Zs and all of the SUVs. That E9X was built all over the world, but not here.

No problems with the hard top. My engineer husband worried about that all the time.

After warranty expired all repairs were so costly and took forever for Wedge Kyes to get parts, etc.

Then my husband wrecked it and the headlights had to be replaced. IIRC it was around $8000 just for the headlights. Yes we had insurance but they jacked up our premiums until we moved to Miss. Oh and the car he hit had no damage.

I didn't like the way it handled or how complicated most things were to operate. Not a very user friendly car for me.

Have a 2015 TLX v6. Really like it. Looked at toyotas and BMW and Audi. Went w Acura for the reliability but also fun to drive -- without the German car prices and reliability issues.

If could do it again, would have considered getting the AWD. Thought the v4 was nice but a little "heavy".

My family is lifelong Toyota - and I've been pleased w my Acura purchase.

Whst kind of engineer is he?

I have a bunch of oceanographer friends, and I'm an engineer of sorts... if he wants to come meet us for drinks sometime he's welcome. We're complete frick offs, but he won't find a smarter crew to do shots with...on this coast.

He is a chemical engineer. Thanks for the invite. I'll have to tell him. He just retired, well semi-retired. He'll try to find a short term project next year.

I've been wondering where all the Stennis employees hang out. I feel like we hang out mostly where the rednecks are. And that's okay!

I quit Stennis 2 years ago to work for an engineering firm out of Florida so I now work from home and on the road. All of the oceanographers work there though.

If he's retired he's a bit older than us, and i'm the oldest of my friends. I'm 42. During the week it's mostly happy hour, until darkish, and rarely do we make it until the bands start on the weekends.

We bought a 2016 MDX. We've put about 7k on it so far. I don't think I'm a fan of the 9 speed transmission. It seems to hunt and lurch at 20-30 mph. Also, the controls for the radio & A/C are not great. You have to drill down into a menu to do something that 1 click of a switch would have accomplished.

What Infiniti did you own? My wife is looking at a 2013 JX35. They are the QX60's now. I'm seeing some bad reviews on these for buying used.

I have an MDX. It's ok. It's had a few small issues, like the mirror motors burning out before I even had 25k miles on it. I'm pretty happy with it overall but I'm not sure I'll buy another one.

My wife drives an MDX. It's a 2012 with ~70K miles. Absolutely no problems at all. Still looks and runs great. everything works. Will definitely be at the top of the list when it comes time for replacement.

According to my truck's computer, I get approximately one MPG better gas mileage with Premium gas than with Regular. Just saying.

I have an 07 Acura TL-Type S. Love that car. Would keep it forever, but the wife is hell bent on destroying it so she can get a Volvo SUV.

Have an '08 with only 56K miles - gave it our son, but I still take it out. Fun car.

Had an RSX-S, but I ran it into the ground. It was a fun little car too.

No one says the mpg is much better with premium. But the performance goes down. During hard acceleration there is a knock in Acura cars when using regular. But I'm not going to be racing or anything, so I don't know if it affects to the average Joe driver that much.
