It’s just a saying. Across all societies, countries, communities it’s the bottom 1/4 that frick it up for everyone else.
The saying needs to be adjusted to 13%.

Not the same area.
Next exit after the mall, same side of the interstate, opposite side of Siegen and only 2.5 miles between the 2?
You sound like Vanilla Ice trying to justify his signature song sounding nothing like Queen’s Under Pressure.

Seriously? BR has been a shithole for decades.
I’m sure you’re right. I just don’t remember it being that bad from 90 to 02 when I was there.

It wasn't as far south but the population was lower. There were plenty of murders. Probably the most murders in the last 50 years.
The 90s were terrible all over the US.

Pretty sure the pre-Broome records for homicides were in the mid-90s over drug territory fighting.

I remember when the Mall opened and how nice it was. BR was having problems in the 1990s, but if you stayed out of the bad neighborhoods you were fine.

But it was still mostly contained to N BR correct? Well you had a pretty rough area out by Gardere also.

the gang style hit job years ago in front of the JR Alexander's was a "show of force".
It let law abiding residents of BR know that the mall was now turf belonging to the gangs. They can conduct their "bidness" on this property whenever they so please.
Today's foolishness was another example of the gangs reminding you that the Mall belongs to them.
Now that they have a stronghold in the middle of White BR, their brazenness will likely increase.

Lee Kwan yew of singapore says that to create a good and peaceful society you need to carefully curate what sort of people are there.
seems like the local mix is less than optimal

Nope. Just two groups of people. Don't know anything else. God forbid they say the color of the people.

Not quite 250,000 but still large cities:
Boise, Idaho
Portland, Maine

But it was accelerated by it.
North Baton Rouge was a hell hole by the early 90s. With mandated section 8 housing and the ease of obtaining government benefits - it was inevitable.
Having Southern university where teaching degrees are handed out and those teachers get paid pretty well in the public school system and are able to buy houses in good areas through ‘programs’ - it was inevitable
Same thing with working for city/parish or any of the plants. DEI ruined the country.

It’s obviously slavery.
Just don’t ask why no other demographic behaved the same way hundreds of years after their ancestors were enslaved.

It was pretty bad in the early 90’s when the crack epidemic was taking over. BR had a lot of murders back then, but it was almost all in north BR.

Yes, murders were mostly limited to NBR.
Hell, most of the past 10+ years have been limited to NBR minus a few specific incidents such as the hit right outside the mall and the guy who ambushed the cops on Airline near Old Hammond.
