Tell your friend you have a scam you pull, where you buy and then return other stuff to make money and see what the friend says.

If they offer to help, then you know. If they turn you in to the PoPos, then you know.

Can’t do that anymore, for Savings Catcher it has to be paid via Walmart Pay
You don’t even get a receipt, it’s saved in the Walmart app

Yeah, but it's pretty funny that OP is an Ar-kansan, then you chime in admitting to doing the same also being Ar-kansan.

OP should send the article about the meth-head getting eaten by a bear to his friend.

It’s a common scam for druggies to look through the trash for cash receipts, go into the store, find the item, then try and return it for free cash.

It rarely works. Maybe in big cities, but it’s usually pretty obvious what is going on. Back in my college days, working in retail, it happened more than you’d want to know. Of course, it was more frequent for people to pay with cash back then.

Why are you shopping at Walmart?

This person asked for any Walmart receipts I had for over $20. I gave them one receipt and then I said the rest is on the Walmart savings catcher app. This person then started blowing up my phone wanting me to send them pics of the receipt on the savings catcher app. After googling this, I noticed other possible scams. Am I being scammed? Is Walmart?

There are two ways the initial conversation with this person should have gone. Had you done this, there would be no current problem.

Scammer: "Hey man, if you have any Wal-Mart receipts over $20, let me have them."
You: "That's an odd request. What do you want them for?"
Scammer: "No real reason. Just trying something out. Do you have any?"
You: "frick off."

OR

Scammer: "Hey man, if you have any Wal-Mart receipts over $20, let me have them."
You: "frick off. I don't shop at trashy Wal-Mart."

This doesn't work anymore as you have to scan the app at time of purchase to get credit for the receipt. Can't just scan receipts anymore.

We benefitted from this for two years when it worked that way. My gf would do the shopping for and entire work place and we'd apply the receipt to her savings catcher app. Saved about $20 every two months.

But like I said now you have to let employee scan app now at time of check out to get credit. This may not be the case at all Walmarts in the country I guess.

Yep. We quit bothering with it because the stupid app sucks and the clerk couldn't get it to work a few times for us.

It works every time as long as you go to different Walmarts

And if you have an item but no recipt you can still take it back and get store credit
