The utility related to dopamine release decreases everytime we perform an action that makes us "happy"

So in a since seeking just happiness is the path to depression and anxiety

Maybe there is more to life than being "happy"

This is why celebrities who have everything in the world tend to go off the deep end.

Human beings generally even out to whatever situation they're in. Viktor Frankl explored this with his book "Search for Meaning" about looking for reasons to live after his wife and child were killed in a Holocaust camp.

Gee, sounds a lot like addiction.

You get a good buzz the first time you do it and a gradually decreasing buzz that requires more and more as you go on.

100.dude.

the future looks to be even more devoid of love than the present.

as a sci-fi fanatic, im intrigued.

as someone who will have to live through it...im horrified.

imagine the Lovecraftian horror of a species ten billion strong who can't even get along with each other in the most basic ways dictated by nature.

imagine the widespread ennui, the boredom, the isolation, the dread when every man finally realizes he doesn't truly have any other human to rely on.

imagine everyone's major encounters with the opposite sex being robotic and virtual, not genuine.

the suicide rates are already rising at alarming rates. no one is paying attention but me.

Google it if you don't believe me.

in terms of relationships, I'm scared happiness does not exist.

is the future we're building really going to be a place where the sexes push each other away out of fear, anger, or just common sense?

are we going to allow ourselves to slide down the slope into an as-of-now-unrecognizable lack of social cohesion?
do we really want to destroy the infinite possibilities of as many happy families, just because we can't grapple with the depth of the vulgarity of sociosexual conditions as they are now?

i believe we're slowly losing something that we cannot afford to lose. I have no idea how to fix this

i cope with Weed and sports and the occasional tinder hoe. but it's not enough

Hmm, I guess that's why they call many drugs "dope"

Holy shite I’ve never heard that. Mind blowing that I’ve never heard that until now if true.

This is exactly why pleasure-seeking isn't the answer to life. But our society has forgotten what Aristotle figured out in 350 BC.

But keep calling Christians bigots for realizing that indulgence leads to despair.

Also, having DNA that allows a permanent state of happiness or content does not lead to a successful species.
