Had work on my AC last month and the tech left a full bottle in my drive way.

I called him and he was VERY thankful.

What about MO99/R438A. It is supposed to be a no oil change refrigerant to replace R-22.

It costs only 389 wholesale for a 25 lb container.

R-22 has been phased out to Puron or 410A - it’s time.
Soon enough puron or 410A will be phased out soon enough

I wonder if they will ever ban water from being used a as a coolant since some commercial and government buildings use water as a coolant instead of a refrigerant.

Get ready to pay if you want to try to fix your unit. Mine went out last summer and the quote to replace my condenser and refill the r-22 was like 2500 so I decided to replace the whole 5 ton unit for 8500. the new refrigerant doesn't work nearly well as r22. not even fricking close. hindsight is always 20/20 and I wish I would had fixed my old unit. my electric bill went way up with the new one having to run almost constantly to keep up. the old one never ever ran constantly to keep up. If it waste, I would try keep my old ac

It’s more because they destroy ozone. It’s not radical at all, it would be insanely stupid to keep using them.

It was Reagan who is responsible too, Montreal Protocol was signed in 1987.

My 5 year old carrier had to have the evaporator coils replaced in attic. Now that the coils are aluminum they can’t be fixed. Parts were under warranty. Labor and Freon was $1250

I’ve been told by techs that the “new”refrigerant is basically propane.

I also heard it was closer to the “good” cooling of 22 vs the 410a crap.

R-410A......phasing out

Wrong....phasing DOWN to 15% of current production levels by 2037. It is NOT being phased out.

we just replaced our 23 year old system in April. Brand new 5 ton Rheem. FRIGID in my house and my entergy bill has dropped in half. Had a company called Total Comfort do the job and I would recommend them. I got 6 bids for the job and they were the most honest and transparent about the whole process.

So you’re saying that people that have been in business for 60 years and I have known for 30 years are idiots? People who own and operate one of the largest Industrial and residential refrigeration companies in the area are idiots? Ok, and I’m supposed to believe you?

So YOU show me the chemical symbolizations for propane and for the NEW residential air conditioning refrigerant and explain how they are not at all very similar. I’ll wait.

Anyone that puts a dime into repairing a r-22 system is a idiot.
