Hmm.
But it's basically nothing over there anyways except Indian gas station casinos on the highway.

I fully support giving federal land to natives and allowing them autonomy.

The Indian man lost all of his land in Oklahoma. A man dressed in black gave some of it back in Oklahoma. But the rains they never came. Woody Guthrie sang the pain...in Oklahoma.

Which means about half of the land owners in Oklahoma will have their land seized by the feds with zero compensation.

Man, so do I. When I think of that entire era of breaking treaties etc, I wonder to myself how if Twitter and Periscope caught it all live like things are today, if we would all be pretty outraged at our government. That time in our history is pretty fascinating.

This part seems questionable. Where is that coming from? Disclaimer: I have not read the opinion yet, just the headline.

If you think the ghettos of Detroit are depressing places, drive through some small rez towns in Oklahoma. I don't know that I've ever seen a more impoverished group of people in America, honestly. Maybe some parts of West Virginia.

Would the public opinion regarding natives be the same as today or as then?

Back then it was tax free cigs, then video rental, then more tax free cigs, another video rental, gas station, fried chicken, oh look, more tax free cigs, this movie rental has specials!, gas, ... I left out the broken down cars and housing falling into ruins everywhere.

Yeah, anyone who has been to Oklahoma knows why we moved the injuns there. Let them keep it all.
