He's a good boy. Bassett Hounds are amazing dogs. I had one for 11 years and holding him while he was being put to sleep was one of the hardest, most emotional things I've ever done. Will probably be the reason I never own another one though.

Actually no...but our older male shih-tzu was definitely the king of our little castle....he’d put Chip in his place daily. Hated the fact that Chip disrupted his household. Sure do miss ole Lucky boy.

People are fricking idiots. How can someone be so irresponsible and just drop a dog off somewhere because they don't want or can't have it anymore?
Take responsibility. Find it a good home or at least bring it somewhere so they can find it a good home.

I had a Basset Hound for 16 years. My aunt found it in a parking lot. Ads in paper, at Vet, all the the typical stuff. After a month she gave it to me. Best dog ever!

A good friend adopted a dog that was abandoned during hurricane Harvey - the rescuer found him tied to a stop sign.
he is the coolest Shepherd mix, is a big dog and super protective of her - but super sweet to those he knows.

Dogs > Humans
My parents live a bit in a rural area. People dump animals every once in awhile; one day a filthy and obviously starving black mouth cur showed up. We tried to shoo her away, she refused to leave so after a few days I just said “frick it, I guess you live here now”....
....that was 7 years ago and she sure keeps us warm in bed every night. She was with me through college, horrible breakups, moving to three different states. She comes to work with my wife and I every day. Greatest dog ever, were convinced she’s part human. She’s starting to get older, grey and slower. When she passes I likely won’t be able to function for like a month. Dogs are amazing creatures.

as someone who has always had cats (3 of them now), my wife wanted to get a dog - and we did - and holy shite i didn't realize just how great they are.
