Reparations is a bad way to market this. She's definitely a victim and in the right here, but don't frame it in racial terms. Fat people on planes are a problem for all of us. American should definitely throw some miles and a flight credit at her.

Good. Extremely overweight people who spill into the other seats should be forced to buy two seats or be sent to their destination on a train.

I don't want you touching me. You're gross

I’m 6’1” and flew middle seat with two other guys who were both taller than me. We had to maneuver some, but we were ok. You sit next to a 5’4” fat woman and there is nowhere for her to maneuver her pork chop thighs.

"Reparations" is not an exclusively racial term...

I had a window seat last week in cattle class, big 'ol boy wedged his arse in the middle seat. Had the build of a guy who "was" an offensive lineman 5 years ago but put on some weight after spending 4 years on the bench and then graduating from Ole Miss 5 years ago.

Luckily flight was only from MSY to DFW but I could already feel my back getting sore.

Fat people shouldn’t be allowed to fly

They should just charge per pound. If it’s good enough to do for luggage, it’s good enough for the McDonald’s crowd.

I wish they would change the whole seating arrangement all together.

There is a way you could spread the seats out

However, airlines are greedy and aren’t gonna do

This would just give the airlines permission to advertise "$99.99" fares, just to have the fine print say the rate applies to a 75lb person, subject to a "weight adjustment fee"

They should just have a seat at the check in counter (like they do to measure overhead baggage), if you look like you might be questionable they make you sit in it and confirm you can fit.

According to Watson, she asked a brother to one of the women  she was sitting next to if he'd like to "swap seats."

"He says, 'no. That's okay :)' ...and then I started shrieking internally," Watson said.

I feel for her, but I can't help but smile at the smirk that must have been on this guy's face when he said "no thanks".

Notice the stadium seat sizes?

If this lady wins a reparations lawsuit Tennessee's athletic program is instantly doomed.

It would, in fact, be beneficial to make them walk.

In 2007, there was a reality tv show called Fat March. Six contestants finished the March and won $40,000 each.

quote:

Twelve seriously overweight contestants who believe they have signed up for a weight-loss program to take place inside a posh mansion receive the shock of their lives when fitness trainers Steve Pfiester and Lorrie Henry reveal the truth -- the group is going to walk more than 570 miles from Boston to Washington, D.C., in pursuit of a prize pool of $1.2 million. But there's none of that insulting business about "voting off" other players. In fact, the more people who finish in the allotted time, the larger the pot each player wins. Participants can expel a member who they think is holding them back from reaching their goal, but each time someone is eliminated, the potential prize money for each remaining competitor drops by $10,000.

If you can't fit in the space of one coach seat, you should be required to purchase a business class ticket or multiple tickets.

How is this any different than the sizes of carryon bags and the requirement to pay for checked bags?
