A football player died at Byhalia High School on Friday night. Byhalia is a very rural area. The initial reports say that it was dehydration related. However, the family is saying that other players say he was injured and the coaches put him back in the game anyway.

If true, good the players are speaking out.

Either way, the kid was in no shape to be playing. So there's that.

Coahoma County Coroner Scotty Meredith said Tuesday that Mitchell collapsed on the sideline after leaving the game, contrary to media reports that stated Mitchell collapsed while playing. Meredith also said coaches did not allow Mitchell to return to the game after showing symptoms.

I think you are seeing more of these deaths due to the unbelievably shitty diet that we have now. What do you expect after eating boxed and bagged chemicals every day?

Anthony Thomas who played for Michigan and the Cowboys was diagnosed with high blood pressure as a teenager and had to be on medication.

Yeah, that's the sticking point.

Media and eyewitness reports are saying he died on the field after being put back in after a vicious hit.

Coroner and school is saying he died on the sideline after being pulled out of the game.

Either its a cover up to protect coaches or its a money grab from the family.

Also, there was no trainer on the sidelines, which is required by the MHSAA.

Dehydration has many symptoms - before death - that you can’t just ‘play through’.

You aren't wrong. Nutrition should be a bigger concern in this country. The crap they have been producing should be a crime.

It is tragic to lose someone at any age, much less a young teen. That being said, I would wager what happens next is.....
Settlement anyone? The diet his parents provided him may be to blame as well. Or dehydration, or a vicious hit.

Follow the $$$ and call Gordon. Sad story that will have a sad ending.

It's also a big reason why our overall health has deteriorated and our populace is a fat mess.

Surely there is some type of video recording of the game/scrimmage? I would find it highly unlikely that even in rural Mississippi coaches from either school involved would not have a recording.

Yeah, my first thought when reading what they said was going on was stroke or aneurysm. AAs are particularly susceptible to those.
