I hear you. But you don't know enough about the Alton Sterling matter. He did not "deserve" to get shot and killed - no one in that situation does. But his behavior both prior to and at the event clearly indicates this was a "good shoot" meaning that under the law the police has justifiable reason to use lethal force.
Please think before you start taking up for the absolute worst dregs of society in favor of people who actually work to protect you.

Did your wife make you post this?
I'm a female and I can't take anyone seriously who has the op's opinion on Sterling. It's like saying the cops should have waited until they were shot (possibly killed) before protecting themselves. He had been arrested what 30 times before so he knew what to do and instead was a total dumbass.

Where have you been? You really think these protesters are the first to emphasize the militarization of the police? It's been discussed on this board for at least three years and it's been written about extensively.
Try reading a book or engaging in something other than Reddit and FB and you'll learn about a whole slew of issues.
And FTR, the cops were completely justified going full tactical this weekend. They're dealing with a potentially hostile crowd in the aftermath of the Dallas sniper. Hell yeah, they should be in full riot gear. I don't blame them one bit in this instance.

Video in this link shows no people but cops in the street before they push the crowd back and then start chasing protesters. Completely unnecessary show of force by these cops.
What this video and 90% of other police/'victim' videos do not show is what precipitated the necessary use of force by the officers. Only until the investigation using testimony from all witnesses can we get a clear picture of what happened.

if white people were being victimized
Twice as many white men killed by police every year than black men. Also having grown up in a town that was 73% AA, 15% White, and 2% Other I can tell you that if I was in the wrong neighborhood, gas station, car wash, or out past midnight I would be stopped just for being white. I have also had officers try to hustle me with a BS "violation" that we could clear up without all the paperwork for a reduced fine.

random blacks
When the cops are called to an area by a civilian then the person is anything but random. Break a law no matter how trivial and a cop can and will stop and talk to you. My experience for the most part with white, black, hispanic, asian, whatever cops has always been if I am courteous, respectable, and apologetic then small things (jaywalking, expired brake tag, busted headlight) all become warnings, nothing more.

Don't all the right wing nuts on this board supporting gun rights say fighting the cops is one of the reasons we need those guns?
What? I believe the tone of this board is that the government should not be the only ones wit firearms. No one, that I have seen, has said anything about getting in a shootout with police as their reason for taking advantage of their second amendment right.

1. There were ALOT of white protestors out there
2. I don't give a shite what you protest...just don't break the law and try to block traffic.
Hell...I may even join a protest to stop the removal of those statues...but I'll stay my arse on the sidewalk

Did you watch the entire live stream before when there were over 1000 ppl protesting for a few hours peacefully to the capital escorted by cops? No problems until this small group of ppl weren't satisfied with a peaceful protest. So they went off the organized path for the protest and tried to block 110. Police intervened.
Did you watch when they were told over and over to get off the road? Did you see when they threw rocks and frozen water bottles, and spit on them? No. They didn't drag ppl into the street so they could say they were in the street and arrest them...
They arrested the ppl that disobeyed their lawful orders for over an hour. These ppl don't get to jump on a random lady's lawn when they send out the team to arrest ppl and be like...oh I'm on private property now. You don't get to break the law and then hide on private property and then everything is forgotten. That's not how it works.
If it looks like they were specifically targeting ppl, they were. The shite starters. Of the 49 ppl arrested that day....7....were even from Baton Rouge. Did you know that? Do you think that's a coincidence?
BRPD and state police have allowed ppl to peacefully protest as long as they are peaceful and don't obstruct state or federal highways without prior approval. That is completely legal protocol. Problem is, other cities out of fear for the story being twisted (just like its been here) let the protesters run wild until it gets so far gone they have to use tear gas and rubber bullets.
Do you know how many injuries there were in BTR this weekend? 2, both were officers. Look at those stats in other places were shite got outta hand.
BRPD is shutting that shite down for the safety of this city and the protesters and they are not letting the shite starters from out of town turn this into a shite show.
If you don't like it, go post on a Minnesota board.

quote:they were in a better position than you, so how about we don't slurp up the narrative, wait to find out what happened, find objective mistakes made no matter if the police made a mistake or not, then improve performance. If the police are found at fault and indicted then we just go ahead and let the court do its thing.
Sterling did not deserve to be murdered and those cops acted as judge, jury and executioner.
Or we could call em murderers

Damn you stupid. Please just post one video showing cops pushing protesters into the road. Please just post one video! Not asking for much.

bullshite.
Blocking traffic and commerce is not acceptable.
IDGAF about that crap.
It is also doubtful that the statue marchers would start shooting cops or burning down the city.
Be honest, that is the real issue, given the history of these domestic terrorists.

"and left a day early to be sure we were through the city before protests started on Friday."
But, it was a peaceful protest. Especially after the Black Panthers and BLM group got here. It's too bad you hauled a$$ early to avoid all of it. You really should have used the opportunity as a learning experience for the wife and kids.

I'm just waiting for all the evidence/information to come out before forming an opinion. May take more than a month for all the info to be out there.

Were you aware that the Supreme Court ruled on this? Called it unconstitutional but necessary in opinion?
I think what they have reviewed is laws that make refusal of a BAC test a criminal offense rather than simply a cause for revocation of your license. I think (but not certain) there has also been a ruling that the whereabouts of slated DWI checkpoints are required to be available to the public under the freedom of information act.
