If you don't crop a Doberman's ears or tail there's no reason to be fearful.

Good looking dog, I have the same shock collar on my Mini Pinscher.

There are cases of labs an retrievers tearing into people. It's a lot more rare, but it does happen

One of my earliest memories is my father stuffing our doberman into the bathroom to kill after it snapped and tried to kill us. Is the brain swelling defect real?
We had multiple dobermans before but switched to rottweilers and never had any problems. My father would find these abandoned aggressive dogs and pull some alpha crap on them to tame them. Braver than me.

It does get aggravating at times but for the most part you really have to admire their loyalty.
Cool Story - My FIL, his brother, myself and my Dobie made our way to my family property in South Calcasieu Parish the day after Hurricane Rita hit. We stayed at my grandparents house which had no power and some minor structural damage. The 3 of us each took a room in the house. My Dobie picked up that things weren't normal and didn't sleep the first night. For 8 hours non stop he went to each bedroom making rounds.
During the day he camped out at the front door and wouldn't let a sole enter the door without my permission.
It was pretty incredible to see his natural instincts kick in.

Not sure but it doesn't seem very plausible to me. Mine lived for 12 years and died of natural causes. His behavior never differed.

bullshite. Animals are animals. Sure, the environment a dog is raised in can influence its behavior to an extent, but some breeds are genetically predisposed to certain behavior. I'll use snakes as an example. I've caught and handled snakes since I was around 5 years old. In the past 45 years I've handled dozens of wild-caught Blue Racers, and I've only seen one that was not a biter. Those snakes are mean as frick. Conversely, I've never seen an Eastern Hognose that would bite. You could poke, prod, or antagonize them all you want, and they would never bite. King snakes are hit and miss - some are biters, some can be handled with no problem.
Same with dogs. Certain breeds are just prone to a nastier disposition. And the biggest factor when it comes to Pit Bulls is just their size and brute strength. When they finally do snap, most humans are virtually defenseless against them. That is the primary reason they shouldn't be pets. Same reason only morons keep 20 ft. pythons as pets.

The reason I know you've never been around pitbulls is this statement. These dogs are literally knee height and 40 pounds.

I agree. My sister has a pit and she is a great dog.
