That "firstest with the mostest" quote is bullshite.
Forrest did not speak that way.
Here is an excerpt from a letter he wrote to General Bragg.
quote:
"I have stood your meanness as long as I intend to. You have played the part of a damned scoundrel, and are a coward, and if you were any part of a man I would slap your jaws and force you to resent it. You may as well not issue any more orders to me, for I will not obey them, and I will hold you personally responsible for any further indignities you endeavor to inflict upon me. You have threatened to arrest me for not obeying your orders promptly. I dare you to do it, and I say to you that if you ever again try to interfere with me or cross my path it will be at the peril of your life." General Forrest to General Braxton Bragg.

Lee was absolutely terrible with supply and logistics. If there was one area in which Grant was truly Lee's superior, it was in the realm of supply and logistics.

That's one too many. He was a slaveholder. Take 'em down!

Nathan Bedford Forrest would be Andrew Jackson reincarnated if they weren't alive at the same time

People who think Grant merely won by just superior numbers completely underestimate and downplay his greatness. His campaigns out west were masterpieces of maneuver.
As much as it pains me to admit, Grant was a great general.

I visited Grant’s Tomb in NYC. They have a nice little museum with a short film. The tomb itself has some nice statues of five of his generals. Worth a quick visit if you’re in the area.
I was the only person in the museum during the time I visited, and only a couple other people were in the tomb. Had a good visit with a park ranger lady. She gave me a tip on Alexander Hamilton’s somewhat nearby country house, so I hopped a bus to Harlem (something I never dreamed I would ever do) and visited it too.

Trivia...Grant was the last U.S. President to have owned slaves.
After he resigned his commission from the army in 1854, he went to run his father-in-law's plantation in Missouri, just outside of St. Louis.

Always fascinated by that.
Poor guy didn’t know all he had to do was start a foundation and he could have lived the rest of his days like one of the richest men in the country, with his offspring set for generations.

Seeing as how Grant was one of the best horesemen ever to be in the Army, that's an apt memorial. His ability with them was beyond exceptional.
