he parents of the chinese and indian co-valedictorian (and both are physicians who graduated from top 5 med schools) legit told the other parents that if their kid actually put effort to learn, they would deserve to be in the honors classes. but since they don't, its not the asians fault they just work harder

Gotta be careful here. When kids don't succeed academically, it's not always because they're lazy or don't work hard. Sometimes they work hard to learn, but they just can't cut it.

A parent who sees their kid struggle with math problems every night will probably get pissed at the parent who says "well, your kid just isn't working hard enough."

Why is it, despite Hispanics making up a larger portion of the population, do we not really hear about them carrying out large scale protests or demands

Most "Hispanics" are white.

I'm not sure. We won't know the answer in our lifetime, unfortunately.

The failure to maintain family structure is a problem in all communities.

We will continue to have societal failures as long as we have children being raised by one parent or no parents or only grandparents.

Most of their values align better with the right. They are a conservative Catholic group by nature. The Republican party is really screwing the pooch by going hard after DACA, it's costing them a large part of the Hispanic vote that would otherwise probably lean towards voting conservative. I know it's a huge issue for my of my Hispanic friends out here, and a major reason they went Democrat.

I hate to break it to you, but you are nowhere near a conservative if you support DACA.

The kids did nothing wrong. It's not their fault. The entire family needs to go back to their country of origin if they are not documented. It is as simple as that.

For the life of me I can't understand how someone downvotes this. It really all comes back to this.

Some SJW just swept this thread.

Single parent homes are the primary reason that black people lag other races in most quality of life metrics.

I hate to break it to you, but if the Republican party doesn't start getting the Hispanic vote in this country they are going to get their butts kicked in pretty much every election within the next 15-20 years as the population shifts. I was just stating the facts with how Hispanics view things, not my personal opinion.

Personally I'm an independent moderate who is disgusted with both parties, I wouldn't claim to be conservative (though I am very much so on some issues).

Many years during my corporate sells career, I received a message from headquarters basically telling me to stop selling so much because it would demoralize other people in the particular site...true story and I was 100% commission.
I went out and started up even harder, driving production to new levels.

Studies have shown students with 2 parent families perform better than student from single parent families.

Studies also show students from two parent families with college degrees perform better than students from regular twomparent families.

I read a book by Thomas Sowell several years ago. He cited a study that looked at average lifetime income, education attainment, likelihood of incarceration among various races. There was virtually no difference amongst the kids raised in a two parent home.

This is 100% true. As a high school teacher, regardless of racial background, the vast majority of my students who don't give a crap and don't succeed because of it are from single parent homes, or raised by grandma. Which of course leads to an endless cycle once they in turn have kids.

Just to note however, that I teach at a title 1 school, so single parents in that demographic are probably less likely to be successful.
