A friend of mine works at a hotel, and he says a lot of hotels have added those "vending machines" that have expensive stuff like MP3 players and so on in them for one reason:
Hookers steal the John's wallet, go down and immediately use it and buy a bunch of stuff from the machines they can sell online, and the John's rarely ever report it, they just eat the loss and cancel their card. Never want to get the police involved.
