What kind of drugs does your employer test for? What kind of prior criminal offenses are preventing these guys from getting the job?

Been like this in my area for 3 years.

The only people not working don't want to work.

From what I hear from my manager friends, they have trouble filling job openings because so many people can't pass a drug test.

My wife does all the hiring and firing at her office. She doesn't have a problem with failed drug tests. Her biggest problem is most of her candidates are young, single mothers that have a hard time balancing job and parenting responsibilities. They've tried numerous programs to help alleviate the problem for both parties, but haven't hit that sweet spot yet.

This is the absolute truth. It’s hard out there right now.

This is an odd thread considering that unemployment is now at a 50-year low.

The average unemployment applicant has an 8th grade reading level.

The people who have a few rough spots dont move the needle. The bottom 15% in this country are chronically employed and work sporadically or just enough to maintain eligibility.

Perfect for the average person who works a job, and also the segment that pays in the most in taxes as a group.
We need to keep people who have a lot of wealth, with a reason to keep their money invested in things that keep people working across the board. Tax them if they are hoarders a little maybe?

The best times ever in this country, are when the Worker is in demand.

I have a downvote, but do you not want your business to be so great, that you have trouble finding people to keep up?

As a whole, we need the entire population earning enough to keep buying stuff, New cars, motorcycles, ATVs, whatever, It's a give and take between the classes.
Anybody who has been watching, has seen how fast we made China bend the knee.
The economy has to be built on the average people, and they have to have money to spend on small luxuries.

Last I checked, homosapiens are bipedal. In addition, we're mammals so you can even bi pedal in the cold.

I mean, for 99% of our existence our job was in fact to bipedal to find food and housing.

I'm in the concrete business. I talk to customers from Miami to Seattle, Canada to New Zealand. You can get a job driving a concrete truck from Auckland to Miami making $20+ per hour for just about as many hours as you are willing to work. I've never seen anything like it. Only requirement is a willingness to work and a CDL.

Due to lack of hirable people, my well- paying corporate job is becoming more stressful by the day, and I am now fantasizing about just going back to delivering pizzas or slinging cheesesteaks at Philly Connection.

Which is why I admire Mexicans/Latin Americans who come to this country and absolutely bust their asses for not so great wages. They haven’t been spoiled by the American entitlement system. I know that some do become a part of that system, but, in my experience, the vast majority are in the former group.

Absolutely, one hundred percent.

What a lot of people on the left don't seem to get is that we may not agree with how they got here and believe they should go back and come back in the right way, but that doesn't mean that we don't appreciate them as people. I would trade all of Americas trailer trash and project queens for Mexicans any day all day

This really irks me. If they are a good worker why give a shite what they do In their off time?

Pot can stay in their system for a month.

If they went to Colorado on vacation, and popped hot 3 weeks later, does it make sense to lose a good worker for doing something completely legal where they were in a time where they weren’t at work?

Or when they are at home enjoying their off time?

Fine to get black out drunk, but smoke a doobie and lose your job.

I mean common sense should have some place in society

And the worker injures them self, or someone else, while they have the reefer in their system. Doesn't matter if they were high or not, the test will show it.

Employers are not going to open themselves up to that liability.

Common sense.

Was working at a sports store while looking for a full time job. A college aged kid who was just promoted cut himself opening a box and got fired for admitting he would fail a drug test. Complete liability issue.
