CNN

quote:

New York(CNN Business) Journalism is often considered the first draft of history, but what happens when that draft is written on a software program that becomes obsolete? Adobe ending support for Flash — its once ubiquitous multimedia content player — last year meant that some of the news coverage of the September 11th attacks and other major events from the early days of online journalism are no longer accessible. For example, The Washington Post and ABC News both have broken experiences within their September 11th coverage, viewable in the Internet Archive. CNN's online coverage of September 11th also has been impacted by the end of Flash. That means what was once an interactive explainer of how the planes hit the World Trade Center or a visually-rich story on where some survivors of the attacks are now, at best, a non-functioning still image, or at worst, a gray box informing readers that "Adobe Flash player is no longer supported."

Personally I think we shot down United 93, but other than that, none of the other mainstream ones.

I do as well but I re watched the movie a few months ago for some reason and it is still incredibly haunting. Especially the ending.

Why? Pretty sure the data recorder/other available info had the plane impacting the ground inverted but intact.

The debris field would have been much larger if it had been hit with a missile and broken up before impact.

A) It’s just too Cinderella for me. When I first heard that even at 13 I thought “Yeah, I’m a little cynical of this story.” I mean “Let’s Roll”. Unless you’re Ned Flanders, that’s not coming out. It’s just too Hollywood for me. My bullshite meter is going off the charts here.

B) The debris field is still large enough and one of the engines was found way away from the primary crash site.

I think this has been disproven. I’m no crash expert, but according to experts who have looked at the data, the debris field and the location of the engine were entirely consistent with similar crashes and not with a shoot down.

(The biggest issue with this were supposed human remains found in a lake 4 miles away. But that was definitively disproven. All remains were found within a 750 square acre radius around the crash site. Entirely consistent with a plane that crashed instead of shot down.)

It's not like you can't just run the obsolete software on an obsolete computer running an obsolete OS. Or a virtual machine.

We can snap photos of an ant from outer space but converting an old video format is out of the question.

Has the actual cockpit audio been released from this? I can't remember.

That’s bullshite. You convert the video file or run on an obsolete system. And we are also supposed to believe that the computer nerds can’t write a newer software that can play the old shite?

Well didn’t know about this part and haven’t really hung out with rugby players, but if it’s colloquial in that scene, definitely makes it more believable than just something he’d pull out of his arse when his flight is being hijacked. I just thought the average person’s reaction would be expletives.

Yea, you’re overthinking the shite out of that. Someone saying the equivalent of “let’s go”, when they are presumably going to do something is not Hollywood.

Nothing whatsoever resembling the debris field of a plane that broke up in flight. Not even close. There was also zero indication of any impact to the aircraft from ordnance in what intact pieces of the plane were recovered. Not to mention that the fighter pilots scrambled to intercept 93’s flight path back to DC have stated that he didn’t even approach the aircraft or see it in time to have done anything.

If you’re just going to believe it regardless because you think evidence is being withheld, then fine. But there is zero publicly available evidence supporting the plane being shot down.

Yes. Partially because the dumbass hijackers hit the wrong button and ended up transmitting most of what they said to ATC.
