On another note, my son was hospitalized yesterday in College Station. He had returned to College Station last Friday and started experiencing breathing issues on Sunday. He described it as a python squeezing his neck and chest, making breathing difficult. I made him go to his local doctor who sent him to the ER as his oxygen levels kept declining in the span of an hour.

The ER said his CT scan results showed an infection on his right lung and coupled with low oxygen levels, they have diagnosed him as presumptive positive for COVID. They do not have the rapid test yet, but expect a positive result in 2 days. They have him in isolation, on oxygen, and started the recent FDA approved azithromycin/hydroxychloroquine treatment. He will be released as soon as his lungs begin to show some improvement. Other than seasonal allergies, he has no underlying health condition.

This is scary stuff, but he is feeling a little better this morning.

They think he may have gotten infected in College Station after Spring Break when all his friends returned from vacation and were hanging out in the local bars/restaurants. This was before government guidelines came out and things shut down.

The oxygen he is on is just a cannula, not a ventilator.

Edit: Update - He is getting out tomorrow. He responded so fast that they suspect he might have had pneumonia rather than COVID-19, even though he was diagnosed with Corona. His test results will be back tomorrow.

Hope he gets better.

When random testing starts and true scope of infections (millions in US) people are going to shite themselves.

Except they should be really happy that it would prove the really low fatality rate and we can finally move on with our lives.

Almost everyone is going to catch it at some point moving forward, no matter the age.

Now whether you end up dying will depend on your health, and the current state of the medical system.

Of course. But, I've realized people are even more dumb and irrational than I thought.
They'll flip the F out.
I hope I'm wrong.

Unless they completely wipe it out (which seems highly highly unlikely), I would imagine the vast majority of people will end up getting covid-19 at some point in their life

Of course they will. Look at the current situation. Everyone on “both sides” knew for a fact that with expanded testing that we’d find exponentially more cases. Not simply because it’s spreading that fast but because, well, more testing equals more positives. It’s an obvious and logical conclusion. But people become obsessed with the CNN ticker, lose their logic from 3 weeks ago, and go fricking crazy and start Facebook fights with people who go to the store for something more than bread and milk.
