There are a bunch of sleep apnea meds in clinical trials right now, the one in the article is a combination of an ADHD med(Strattera) plus a isomer of a bladder control drug(ditropan).
Another interesting one that's in the pipeline is a combo of a diuretic(acetazolamide) plus synthetic THC. The theory is that it prevents the muscles in your throat from fully relaxing so your airway isn't obstructed as well as stimulating breathing.

I normally hate turning to meds as an answer, but i'd rather take a pill than wear a CPAP.

have no idea what type I have but at the urging of my daughter who was in nursing school at the time I did a sleep study (at home variety). Results showed I stopped breathing 67x an hour. Got on cpap and went to <5x over night and <2x within a couple of days and has stayed there. Can’t sleep without my cpap. Don’t understand how a pill can accomplish same thing?
same situation with me. Im almost 6'1 and 197lbs and I had 80+ events. I had to use the resmed apap before I got "inspire technology". I couldn't stand the mask but you get used to it I guess. I averaged around 4 events but with inspire its 0 and no equipment on your face. Anyone who uses a mask, please continue to use it. I remember the night and day effects when I used a mask for the first time. I literally went from no energy on a daily basis and just tired all the time for years to full energy after one night using the mask and felt like a young man again. Inspire technology if it works for people , I highly recommend but if this pill will actually work, id wait, use the cpap/apap and save some money. A pill for sleep apnea would be amazing. Im wondering what the studies show as far as someone getting ample rest taking the pill.

Just lose weight and don’t be a fat arse. Problem solved. It’s not a disease, it’s not a disorder. It’s because you’re fat. And this is just another pill the dirtbag lawyers will sue over in10 years and make billions. Rinse, repeat. If you’re a lawyer, or a fat arse on here, all offense intended.

I can’t wear it. Crap on it. Tried it. Not doing it. "

I guess you're talking about a CPAP machine. So you couldn't wear your's and then you crapped on it and tried it again? Why did you think crapping on it would help? I can't say I fault you for not wanting to wear any such device after it's been crapped on. Seems to be a fairly crappy situation all the way around. .

I dont sleep but I dont have sleep apnea. I dont snore much. Mine is mental mostly. I basically do not want to sleep. I like being awake and doing shite. It is my problem and I have dealt with it for over 30 years

I am not about to start popping pills for it now. I will sleep later.

To each its own.

Not to help patients mind you but to protect the companies making breathing machines.

You do realize those companies make products other than just CPAP devices right?
