If you're gonna have fat friends (or the spouse is gonna have them) you should befriend someone who fancies themselves an artisan and has their own sawmill.

A salesman my Dad knew as purchasing manager for a major oil company was such a person. I visited the guy and his house was full of furniture he made. It was gorgeous stuff patterned after the Old West kinda style (think Bonanza or High Chaparral TV show style) although it was thick solid cut. Talking the coffee table was 2" thick slab, an armchair was also 2" thick solid wood. He made the dining set, cabinets, end tables, etc..

Furniture making was his hobby and he was constantly watching for premium wood. Find a guy like that and you will no longer fear the fatties.

What's the problem with sending the bill to your wife's fat friend? She sat on a chair that couldn't support her weight and it broke. I understand she may have felt embarrassed at the time, but leaving without letting you or your wife know would be enough justification for me to stick her with the bill.

I'm fat, I can't imagine blowing out a chair. How is that even possible.

Be honest, your wife is fat and she's the one who broke the chair.

Right, but the bill to repair a chair is $250, not replace.

Check you homeowner's insurance policy. You'd be surprised at some things they cover and pissed about what they don't. I shot my compressor, accidentlly, on my a/c way back when. Policy had a clause saying it was covered because it was a foreign projectile.

Who'd a thunk it.
