Send her a bill for what?
She didn't pick the chair. You picked the chair.
As far as I am concerned, you supplied her with an inadequate chair. That's outrageous, offensive, and detestable.

Have her over again for salad.

Right, but the bill to repair a chair is $250, not replace.
Maybe it's an antique cane-back chair or something?

I'm pretty sure if you send her the bill you won't be getting anywhere near your wife's box for a very long time.

A chair that costs $250 should be able to hold an overweight person. Sounds like you got scammed. Not the overweight persons fault you overpaid for crappy furniture

Sorry you bought cheap furniture

Wood glue and some pocket screws. Save the 250.

I think I'm just going to pay for it and never mention it again.
Just make sure to have it reinforced and put a mark on it to distinguish it from the others. Every time she comes over direct her to sit in this chair.
In the eighties, my friends mom had a special coffee cup hidden high up in her cabinet for her gay nephew to use when he came over for coffee. She didn't want to get aids.

You shouldn't fat shame people, regardless of the situation. Like most obese people, she probably has a condition of some sort that makes losing weight hard/impossible. It isn't her fault.
You're on a roll today.

One of my wife's friends is really big. She was over for dinner one night
That part right there is your mistake. NEVER invite fat people over for dinner. Doesn't matter if your have chairs made out of schedule 80 welded pipe. Fat people eat too much.
