A cat in Belgium was confirmed COVID-19 positive after showing several symptoms, including diarrhea, vomiting, and trouble breathing.

The cat probably contracted the infection from her owner, who had recently returned from a trip to Northern Italy, one of Europe’s most significant coronavirus hot zones.

A dog in Hong Kong tested positive for the novel coronavirus a few weeks ago, and that good boy eventually died of old age after reportedly recovering from the illness. Now, a cat in Belgium contracted COVID-19 from her master, who also tested positive for the novel coronavirus.

quote:

The first human-to-cat transmission was confirmed by Belgium’s FPS Public Health, Food Chain Safety, and Environment authority. A week after the owner returned from a trip from Northern Italy, the cat started developing symptoms including diarrhea, vomiting, and respiratory issues. The owner sent samples to Dr. Daniel Desmecht’s lab at the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine of Liège, Live Science reports. The results were positive, showing high levels of SARS-CoV-2 in samples. Comparatively, the 17-year-old dog that got the virus tested a weak positive. A second dog tested positive but showed no symptoms of the disease.

Well there goes the whole "it couldn't have been bats because animals can't get it" argument.

I think that was reported a while back (about a couple months) and then it was refuted.

I'd heard that dogs and cats could be carriers but that the viral load wasn't such that they could pass it on to humans (i guess as long as you aren't eating them )

So does this mean that pussy is no longer undefeated because it has contracted the virus or is it remain undefeated if it lives?

It’s all just so confusing...

My cat and dog both were sick the past month with trouble breathing and coughing.

My cat slept for like two days straight and wasnt his normal self for about a week.

I've wondered if they had it.
