The ports will capitulate because this ship is the next generation. Might take some time but the ports won't want to lose the revenue.

Yes but it will be interesting to see what happens to Houston, Miami, and the other non-west coast ports because the Panama Canal is being enlarged but I don't think it will be able to handle this huge ships.

If P canal can't and the industry moves to these super large ships it could get interesting. A lot less activity at certain ports and a lot more rail activity from the west coast.

LA is Louisiana, especially on an LSU fan site for crying out loud. L.A. Is Los Angeles.

I can't really even imagine how you pilot such a beast - especially in a port

Cool ship but you get a downvote for making me think this was in Louisiana.

Do you have to pay extra for that kind of thing?

Most ports are dredged to 45'. A lot of them, including many along the Gulf Coast, need to be dredged to 60' to accommodate the new traffic that will be traveling through the PC. Unfortunately, federal funding has run dry for a lot of these, so it's up to the states or ports themselves to try and foot the bill.

A few east coast ports have dredged to that depth to accommodate the new ships, but those are few and far between. Had to foot the bill themselves.

I wonder what the Captain of that ship pulls in a year? Mid 6 figures? More?

In really heavy seas when the ship is rolling a lot, what prevents those containers from falling overboard?

That thing would shuttle a lot of overweight rednecks between Galveston and Cozumel.

Sometimes they do. You can find all kinds of shite washed up on west coast beaches.

I've got some cargo on that ship. Or at least had some. It was offloaded in LA.
