Ok. Did she ask, and was she allowed to use the restroom?
Why should asking to use the restroom be a determining factor on who gets asked to leave?
Isn’t the point that you don’t want non-paying customers in there just hanging out? There’s like a dozen people in there. You know who has bought something and who hasn’t.

Because that was the policy. The bathroom was for paying customers. They allowed them to sit there for a while and apparently would have continued to allow them to sit there until they ask to use the restroom. There is no evidence of any conflict before that. I'm sure that if it were your Starbucks you would allow 25 or 30 people to come in and sit down and use all the tables and use the restroom and never purchase anything. All they would be using was your free Wi-Fi. Does that sound like a solid business plan to you?

Fine. So the bathroom is for paying customers. Why weren’t they allowed to go sit back down amongst the other non-paying customers?

I’m not saying that Starbucks should allow people to just hang out. I’m saying that perhaps they need to be a little bit more consistent with who they tell to leave and who they allow to syat

It's time for us to understand the dire nature of the consequences Black people face when we call the cops on them for every damn thing. We have been taught from a young age that police are there to help us, to protect us, to keep us safe, but that is not the reality of our brothers and sisters of color. The entire institution of policing was founded in slave patrols and though it has evolved, it is not for them what it is for us.
I give you....7 out of 10 virtue signals.

Because at that point they became confrontational. And they told the people not only were they not going to leave they were not going to order anything.
You can be the devil's advocate here if you like, but the whole situation could have been avoided about a half a dozen ways. And 5 of those ways belong to the black guys.

Why does shite like this always have to be about race? Why does the black community get outraged and call for boycotts when something like this happens? Why can't it simply be handled by the two gentlemen who were wronged by the manager at the Starbucks?
T-Bird is right in so many ways....if you not feeling love at a business, then get the frick out of there and don't go back. We will never unite as a people as long as hate-mongers exploit every little situation like this one.
Here's hoping for a united America, where all races are equal.

Getting kicked out for loitering is normal. But for the police to get involved they have to be served a trespass notice first in many places

When did they become confrontational? I haven’t seen anything indicating this. All I’ve seen is that they declined to buy anything and that they were waiting for a friend.
And I’m not playing Devil’s Advocate. I completely agree that the two guys made some pretty poor decisions. As I said, I wouldn’t have left there in cuffs. But none of this happened until they were asked to leave, and again, their “policy” is clearly not being administered consistently.

I know corporate competition stifles growth of the small business owners in many ways due to pricing and such, but there is a huge void where there should be bustling growth.
What has been won? Over 40 plus years, what has been won? Look at Mad Maxine's district, has it improved in all her time representing it? Things to ponder...

Again, I have no problem with people getting kicked out for loitering....as long as loitering actually means loitering. And in this case I’m not certain that it does. Otherwise they would have kicked out a couple of other people.

The policy I spoke of is the bathrooms are for paying customers. And apparently that was being administered consistently. But all of that kind of thing seems pretty vague and vague policies are hard to administer consistently.
As for being confrontational when told that they need to buy something they announced that they were not going to buy anything and then they said they they're not going to leave. They were told that the police were going to be called and they said fine call the police. And in my mind that's being confrontational.
I think the police bent over backwards to not arrest them. The police somewhat have an obligation to serve the public, in this case, Starbucks.
Have the last word if you care to. I think we just disagree on this.

And when white people try to take advantage of those potentials they're demonized.

I guarantee the two downvotes you got were by liberal white males. I'm talking charmin soft white boys.

Thanks for your perspective.
I often wonder if things like this are not racially motivated, but culturally motivated.
In other words, if the two guys were toothless rednecks, or white guys with tats, chains and flatbills on sidewasys, would the employees have done the same thing?
I'm leery of certain people based on how they look that has nothing to do with race.
I've been in a lot of Starbucks, and I can't imagine a couple a couple of black men in khakis would have been asked to leave.
Maybe I'm naive and more hopeful that somehow we can get past things like this.

WE as a people have to start looking for positive interactions with people. More focus on what we have in common is far better than why are we different. Strength and independence among all us makes us better collectively.

This is where I am having a hard time trying to see it from your perspective. Knowing that exact location's policy and how they even turned away police officers before for trying to use their restrooms, I dont see it as a race issue at all. The race card dots dont seem to connect to me.
How this became a race issue is just mind boggling to me. With all the shite supposedly going on in this country and this is the one that has everyone up and arms?

If more people thought this way and acted upon it, things would be better.
