We get 3-4 % every year.

If I stay here for 30 years, I'm only 38, they're going to be paying me like close to $500K a year at retirement. I'm thinking I have a short run way. Don't know how this works...do you just cap out on raises at some point?

If and when inflation goes down, does the employee subtract money? No… raises aren’t dependent on economic conditions.

There is likely a pay band and once you hit the top of the band no more raises. They could throw in a bonus but your salary won’t grow.

Also, not all 3% raises are made equal. Big difference with a 3% raise on $60K vs $160K.

Ok, here’s a 10% raise. Now say goodbye to 30-40% of your fellow workforce. Would you make the cut?

Do you think COGS got cheaper or inflated during this recession?

I am in the middle. Probably expecting 3% as well.

If a company or department doesn't share their P&L statement with you, then you are not valued at that company.

A 3% raise means you want to be cheap and placate me so I won’t leave. It means I’m not valued and I need to threaten leaving and be ready to do so.

You think companies aren’t raising their prices as well?

Do you think that makes profit margin higher?

we got nothing this year due to "inflation"... regardless... and as hypocritical as that is.... 3% would have been awesome.

Most corporations have experienced record profits since COVID, largely due to them raising prices.

company isn’t obligated to give raises at all. It’s all situationally dependent. Employers don’t control inflation.

But they’ll pay more when those people leave and they have to rehire.

And then you’ll say millennials have to loyalty, demand things they don’t deserve, etc.
