From Billboard magazine, 1986:

The first hi-def TV series

and the first hi-def music video was Candy by Cameo

In 2006, I bought a Sharp 52" LCD for $5100. In 2011, my home got robbed and the insurance replaced it with a 60" Sharp LED for $750.

It’s impressive that a dead company still manages to produce the top-selling video game console.

I miss those DLPs.

The best of all worlds IMO.

But alas, the world became obsessed with flat TVs to the point that there was no room for anything else.

I remember sending two of my guys to pick up a 50" plasma from the gateway store in 04 for our owners wife as a gift for our owner. It was over 5k.

Bought my first HDTV the summer of 2002, 32” Sony CRT. 1700 bucks, busted my arse working that summer but it was worth it.

Our first VCR in 1981 was a split device Panasonic. It was split out to make it potable to hookup a camera. Think my step dad had $3500 invested in all of it.

Pic of vcr

We had one of these bad boys.

It’s amazing what the free market can do if allowed to work. Maybe we can get them to try healthcare next.

I went to the grocery store this week and was shocked that a gallon of milk at Wal-Mart was .98.

When my wife and I got married in 98, we went to Arlington to 6 flags.
While there I had to go to frys, comp usa and Best Buy, none of which existed in my area.
They had a sony 34" CRT HDTV that $8k and a Panasonic RPTV CRT 52" that was $6k.
The CRT one was stunning.
BR-D wasn't around that time.

I do hate buying bulbs, I have to replace them in our projectors about once a year and those cost $600 each but it didn't have to be that way with the DLP RPTVs. The last one I bought was a Samsung with a LED light engine, they had just come out in about 2007. That one is still alive and running in my shop. I still prefer the look of a DLP picture to most other display methods as long as you aren't sensitive to the rainbow effect.

Better hold onto it.
I never really cared for plasmas because everyone I've seen had a flicker.
They make the best blacks though.

I had a Mitsubishi vhs deck back in '84 that had dolby NR but was mono. Did not have AFM/hifi audio.
It seamed cheaply made but cost me about $800.

And yet healthcare and education get more and more expensive and less and less value

What could be the difference?
