Some buddies of mine did that when we hung out a few years back.

My brother used to stand about 50' apart and see who could land one closer to the other person.

Or any of the "Bag O'" line - Bag O' Nails, Bag O' Bugs, Bag O' Vipers, Bag O' Sulfuric Acid. They're decent toys, you know what I mean?

All we did back then was win 2 world wars, invent aviation, harness the atom and go to the fricking moon.

I mean it looks like that is the actor Rob Schneider, so that isn't exactly a great leap you are making.

Me and my brother had those, I threw one over the fence and hit the neighbors dog in the foot. Neighbors were pissed! It was their little poodle, her name was Princess but she was aggravating.

Most of the boys in my neighborhood were given BB guns and bow & arrows around age 7 or 8. We routinely had BB gun wars. Our favorite activity with the bows was to shoot as high as possible straight up in the air and see who would be the last to run for cover.

Cowboys got the BB guns, Indians got the bows and arrows. It was like a Medal of Honor to get a BB under your skin.
When we played Rat Patrol we used mud wrapped firecrackers for hand grenades. I remember digging holes to set up booby traps. We used bottle rockets in pieces of pipe for bazookas.
I remember having a steam engine powered erector set.
Major disappointment in my chemistry set when I discovered there were no explosive recipes.

I have four turn of the 20th Century steam model locomotives. Live steam trains were fairly common, though hard to find now.

Ives made a toy train that had the transformer (converting house AC to 1-28 volts AC) inside an all metal station - with a removable roof and no insulation or device to keep some kid from hitting the house current that went inside the station.

I have a picture somewhere of the innards of the station.
