I find that as you go through the data you see that a lot of the deaths are in long term care rehab centers and not just “nursing homes”. Rehab centers are usually where very sick and old people are after they are discharged from the hospital after strokes, heart attacks, etc. People in pretty fragile states if you ask me. Some are bedridden, on feeding tubes, etc.

Every case is different, and these people are other folks' mothers, grandmothers, etc. But anyone who has spent any time at all around nursing homes knows that in many of these instances death is a blessing.
Edit: I just skimmed the pdf put out by the state showing nursing home cases. Damn, a lot of these places are covered up with cases.

Not sure anyone, anywhere has ever argued that an elderly person dying is not less tragic than a child or young adult dying.
On a side note, this reminds me something the American poet George Oppen once said "In 85 years, the tragedy has already happened."

Take steps necessary to protect the employees and the residents.
We could sequester all employees, provide assistance to their families, etc, and it would still be a hell of a lot cheaper. And the rest of us could get on with our lives.

-A rough estimate of current cases, given the average length of illness (4 weeks give or take) is 7,304 positive tests in the past 30 days.
-Since AL started tracking cases, roughly 31% of positive cases have been Heathcare Workers or Longterm Care Workers or Residents
-That amounts to approx. 2,264 of the currently active 7,304 cases, or 5,040 residents who are not in the groups at greatest risk of contracting the virus
-Alabama's population is currently 4,903,000 people
-5,040 ÷ 4,903,000 = 0.0010279421 x 100 = 0.10279421 % of the population (excluding those most at risk who are almost always quarantined if they test positive) currently infected

Those numbers are a little deceiving as well. The first column is the current number of residents. The second column is the total number of cases the facility has had since the outbreak began. Many of those have since recovered.
