I had a cousin in her early 70's and her husband both get sick with it. He sat home watching TV like normal, but she had breathing problems, and had to be hospitalized. No ventilator, but she was getting oxygen. I've been trying to be careful, and not get out much because I'm over 60, and I take care of my 89 and 85 year old parents. We spent an afternoon with that cousin four or five days before she started feeling bad.
In the last week, a couple in my parents Sunday school class got it. Even though they joke about how their senior adult class members get promoted to the cemetery, they've got 10-12 people meeting each week.
I went to church one Sunday and found out our pastor, music director, and my Sunday school teacher all have it. The choir director was the only one that had to be hospitalized. I haven't been back, and neither has my dad. My mom taught their class through September, but didn't go back this week.
ETA: I talked on the phone with a first cousin in Ft.Worth. He told me one of his grown grandsons (mid-20's) had it bad enough to be hospitalized. Said he was one of those people who wouldn't wear a mask, and was saying it's a hoax. He said he changed his tune after he had it.

I said this until my mother in law was rushed to the hospital and has been on a ventilator for a week at this point. That being said, nobody in our family has changed our minds on the absurdity of the shutdowns. Just shitty luck as she has no underlying conditions.

Ludicrous really at this point. Wear a mask/wash hands, stay away from others if you want. Let the rest of the America live their lives. Been going to the gym mask free since May 11th and not a single outbreak

Will be happy to introduce myself nor would I wish the past four weeks upon friend or foe. This virus has been rather unkind to me.

So COVID doesn’t actually exist in other countries? Interesting.

don’t know anyone who’s tested positive
Then again the only people I know are my dog and my wife

I am involved with our local Y association, and apart from a couple of employees who tested + and had to be out, we have had zero issues. I am actually very surprised.

I know 7 who’ve died so far. Imagine still thinking this is all made up.

I never personally knew anyone that was murdered but I hear it happens all the time on the news and they've been tracking statistics on it for a long time. What's up with that? I have family and friends throughout St.Tammany, New Orleans, and Jefferson.
That's some bad logic to use to try and push a shitty conspiracy theory.

I think the reaction was too strong and shutting down the economy has long term ramifications that will outweigh the virus itself.
With that said I know of at least 8 people that have been hospitalized and 2 more that have died. Both were in their 70’s but it’s easy to say it’s not a big deal when it’s not your family.
Neither one of the people were related to me but my wife (bleeding heart) and I got into an argument about it one night and she said “what if it was your grandmother and she never got to meet your son because of it” (she’s pregnant)
There’s gray area imo. Yes precautions needed to be taken but this permanent shut down of businesses is ridiculous. Also anyone who takes a vaccination that hasn’t went through years of clinical trials is rolling some extremely dangerous dice.

I don’t know how this is even possible. I don’t know 7 people who have died in the last 10 years.

Have had 2 people I know die from it but they were 80+ and in bad health.
Also had a coworker die from lung cancer and his cause of death was corona. Even though he didn't have it. I had the corona and was better after a week only issue was for about 2 weeks afterwards I had trouble breathing and lost my balance weird vertigo feeling but now I'm good to go.

Surely you realize how terrible this logic is, right?
In my entire life, I don't know of a single person who has ever died in a car accident. Sure, I know people, who has gotten in an accident and either had a minor bump, or the car completely totaled. But nobody I know had significant injuries in accident, let alone die from it.
Obviously car accidents are a complete myth. There is absolutely nothing wrong with texting and driving, not wearing a seatbelt, speeding, not using blinker, etc.

1. So it is your belief that Covid doesn't exist outside of the US. And instead of the widely accepted belief that it was started in China, it is your assertion that it was started here in the US?
2. What in your mind would you consider to be a major, or even semi-major epidemic/pandemic for the US. I need a number. At what death toll number would make you see this as being anything more than a minor epidemic. In addition, how did you get that number.

Louisiana, like NYC, got hit early and hard so I think perspectives on this board may be skewed.
As we progress through this, we have gotten a lot better at understanding, managing and treating the resulting illness. Trump - a stress ridden, 75 year old fatass - walking out of the hospital feeling great after a few days of interventional therapeutics is the latest proof.
