Is that where they had that big fight a few years ago with the security guard and the guy with the folding chair?

It appears to have happened in daylight, but the news reports were all this evening. LINK

But the community’s population has been shrinking for decades, and some families have sold their land to outsiders who built vacation homes.

Tax increases and zoning changes by the local government in McIntosh County have been met by protests and lawsuits by Hogg Hummock residents and landowners. They have been battling for the past year to undo zoning changes approved by county commissioners in September 2023 that doubled the size of homes allowed in Hogg Hummock.

Residents say they fear larger homes will lead to tax increases that could force them to sell land their families have held for generations.

So, people selling their homes and new zoning laws are now racist? Everyone who owns property is concerned about property tax increases. That isn't race exclusive to anyone.

My God, how do you "offended" people get through life?

If we assume the two gangplanks were the same length (and there's a photo on line somewhere that shows them close to equal, and if the collapsed one is resting on the muck, then one unit and a half (horizontal-seven units or eight per side of each gangplank) are under water. Depending on how tall the dude in white is, maybe six feet+, water could be about five feet there, when the photo was taken.
BUT how long was this photo after the gangplank fell?

Kind of confused how this could kill 7 people and cause people to go missing. There's got to be more to this story

I see where you are going. First page has the full length. So we need to know where it broke. Can't assume half way

I don't think many people speak Gullah anymore but Clarence Thomas is fluent.

The article also explains the number of deaths a little more. Many were elderly.

quote:

Many of the dead were elderly and include a chaplain for the Georgia Department of Natural Resources, Jones said.

Onlookers jumped into the water to try to save those who were drowning.

'There wasn't a soul who wasn't trying to help somebody,' a survivor told Georgia Public Broadcasting.

One of the victims was an elderly woman who was using a walker at the time the gangway collapsed.

If anybody can get tide times on average for this site, add on for higher high tide and lower low tide as Th. night was full moon.
