Hasn't this been stopped by the metro council a few times because it didn't include ghetto section 8 housing?

There are also plans to renovate the old Lincoln Hotel and turn it into apartments with a restaurant and art gallery on the bottom floor. This would be a few blocks from the old Entergy building. LINK

Building this area up would be a huge win for BR. East Mid City has done a really good job of revitalizing itself in the last decade. It's one the best areas of BR now. Pushing this revitalization West towards downtown is a great idea.

I hope they repave the road right there. It's a rough ride

Yes, Old Goodwood, Superiors, Bistro Byron's, White Star Market and the other half a dozen of new restaurants and bars are definitely ghetto.

I’ve been wondering what they are doing there. That’s an awesome way to make a good use of that building it was an eyesore just sitting there.

Yeah I'm pretty sure that everybody saying this is a good idea and the area is ok, etc. would shite their pants if I drove you to the spot it's located at and dropped you off on a Saturday night.

There is ghetto, and then there is the straight up crack neighborhood. This is straight up crack neighborhood with hookers.

I'm all for gentrification, but damn you gotta at least make it a gradual shift.

anyone that has driven down park to gov't street knows you cant take a left on gov't street. You are forced to cross and decide to make a left at the first street and pray your car doesnt break down before you can make your way back to gov't street

People complain about BR having nothing to do, downtown sucks, foods not good, etc

Anyone who says this is probably one of those introverted shutins that thinks a good time is dinner at 4pm, movie at 6, in bed by 9

BR has some great food offerings, Downtown needs better concerts but there are lots of great bars and stuff to do.

I really wish the NBA G-league would play a few games here.

And if I'm not mistaking the first block brings you to a north bound one way street.

It's not user friendly at all.

I don’t know why people continue to do this shite in BR no matter the location. They never seem to pan out here.

The only way this works, at least initially, is if they fence the parking lot and have off duty police controlling the entrance. There will have to be enough free parking so that everyone going there can use the lot. If they do that, it will be fine.

If they don’t, cars will get broken into constantly and eventually a patron will get robbed or shot/killed. Then the place will tank.

They are doing that. You don't make a $6 million investment on something and completely ignore the reality of the situation.

Its obviously not guaranteed to work, but the banks, investors, and businesses going into the development don't just go into something like this blindly. They look at the risks and viability of the project. Its not just a couple guys saying "this would be a cool idea" and pouring money into a doomed project.
