634 CIA Assassination Plots to kill Fidel Castro?

There is a website called Elevator that sends me a daily email (at my request). It always starts with a nearly NSFW photo, thanks to their art department, followed by several articles that send you to a wide variety of interesting articles.
Today's Elevator had a link to an article in the online magazine called "MEL", concerning the uncovering of 634 formerly classified plots by the CIA to kill Fidel.
It was a great read, as are many of the Elevator stories. I subscribed to daily Elevator emails a long time ago and today subscribed to daily MEL emails.
You might want to take a look at Elevator

Here is the CIA Plots to kill Castro story link.
MEL Magazine
Some presidents seemed determined to kill, embarrass or maim Fidel. The number of attempts was as follows, according to the article, which includes a link to the official CIA records report:
Dwight D. Eisenhower (1959-1961): 38
John F. Kennedy (1961-1963): 42
Lyndon B. Johnson (1963-1969): 72
Richard Nixon (1969-1974): 184
Jimmy Carter (1977-1981): 64
Ronald Reagan (1981-1989): 197
George H.W. Bush (1989-1993): 16
Bill Clinton (1993-2001): 21
Here is the link to 143 pages of (I guess) formerly classified documents relating to CIA attempts to get Fidel.

If 634 is an accurate number then the CIA is horrible at assassinations

You’re reading that wrong.

CIA has been too busy rigging elections at home and abroad to focus on assassinations.

Sorry, this is a quote from the article"
quote:
According to former head of Cuban intelligence Fabián Escalante, over the course of his long life, the CIA made 634 attempts to kill Fidel Castro. Escalante even tabulated how many attempts were made by each U.S. president:

Nope, I sure wasn't. I added Bush Jr and shoe as a facetious comment. Sorry the humor wasn't there for you.

Wow. Surprised they couldnt get that job done but they were able to rig the election without leaving a trace of evidence.

Thanks for the heads up, Elevator editor.

I liked the last paragraph:
Ultimately, Castro died almost exactly four years ago — on November 25, 2016, at the age of 90. His cause of death was never officially disclosed. But given everything above, we can be pretty confident that the CIA had nothing to do with it.

I haven't read the article, but 634? That sounds like a lot of misses.
How many of the 634 "plots" were a couple of spooks spitballing ideas ...
Spook 1: How about we put something in his cigars that will make his beard fall out?
Spook 2: I like it! Imagine how embarrassed he'll be. It'll be great!
Spook 3: frick that. Let's put something in his cigars that makes HIM fall out.
Spooks 1 and 2: NICE!!!

So everyone is assuming this is true?
634 attempts? Its hard to believe the CIA attempted to kill a dictator of a country like Cuba 634 times with no success.
He was either the luckiest mother fricker on Earth or the CIA was ran by a bunch of frick ups.

That makes Arkansas 0-20 streak in the SEC look like a speed bump

That's the new excuse now? The CIA rigged the election?

This just makes me think the opposite. We probably actually never once tried to kill him.
Its just not that hard to do if you really wanted to. Its even easier if you are backed by a US .gov three letter in any capacity.
For a fraction of the effort of one of these scenarios listed you just get within a few hundred yards with a basic rifle one time.
I call bs

It only took 2 attempts to get JFK. He avoided the Chicago attempt by not traveling.
