Charged with battery after throwing a temper tantrum, the school resource officer also arrested and 8 year old in an unrelated case the same day.

quote:

Kirkland told WKMG-TV that while there, a school staff employee grabbed Kaia's wrists, sparking her to lash out and kick her legs. The school resource officer — Officer Dennis Turner, of the Orlando Police Department — handcuffed Kaia and transported her to the Juvenile Assessment Center in Orlando on a battery charge.

Sgt. David Baker told the news outlet that for arrests of people under the age of 12, officers are required to get permission from their watch commander — which he said Turner did not do.

Twice they didn't follow protocol in 1 day.

I mean does anyone possibly think this is how we should be dealing with grade school children?

Strange times we live in. Back when I was in elementary school, if we threw a temper tantrum, we were sent to the office or had our parents called.

Now we arrest them and charge them with a misdemeanor.

Clearly one man with a badge and gun does. I didn't read about any other officers trying to stop him, so probably more than 1 is ok with it.

I'd be cool with this if it was all for show. My 5 year old almost never loses his shite anymore, but a fake arrest would bring that down to never.

If your six year old is throwing a temper tantrum because she suffers from sleep apnea, it's time to put her fat arse on a diet.

That’s a lot of trouble to go through when all the kid needed was a kick in the arse

parents?

The parent (singular) is probably laid up and not responsive to the school. Leaves them very few choices

One of which is not arresting a six-year-old child and charging them with battery. You throw the kid in timeout, not the clink.

This is what happens when parents want the schools to raise their kids.

And, worst of all, it’s going on her permanent record.

She can kiss Harvard goodbye.

so. Disrupt every other kid, eat up school resources, why? I promise you this isn’t the first time the apnea got to this kid.

They probably shut down the alternative schools. Just sit her in the office and let her scream all day? I bet the resource officer was called to the office to handle her.

The family got what they want. The public outrage will result in some cash.

We can go back to spanking or this. I'm fine with either.
