My neighbor across the street had a very healthy son who was in his early 30's. I found out six months ago that he died from the virus. I saw him about a month before he died and I would never have guessed that he was sick. I'm sure he caught it after I saw him. This young man always looked like he was in good health which is why I had a problem believing that he died. If he could catch the virus then anybody can catch it. I got my shot this past Monday. I didn't feel a thing while I was being injected. After the shot was given I had to sit in the lobby for 15 minutes to make sure that I didn't have a bad reaction to the vaccine.

Curious if you mean that he was around other residents
My Grandpa is in a nursing home but they are not allowed to leave their rooms (all private)
For the majority of the 10 months he has been able to walk his hall with a mask and socially distancing, he aims for 75 laps a day which is roughly 3 miles. There was an initial lockdown and then another lockdown about 5 months ago when they had a second outbreak. For the last couple of months they have been using the dining hall in shifts (so more spread out) and had things like bingo and crafts by hall so again they could social distance. This home had 1 worker and 2 residents test pos after the initial does (all during the same testing time). I am not sure if they have shut down the dining room and bingo etc since this pos test. He is on the COVID wing now with just the one other resident and is allowed to walk that hall with a mask.
The nexus was the worker since the other resident was not on his hall and he didn't have contact walking, eating or recreation time with them. The worker worked on both their halls.

If several million people have gotten it, I would expect 55 or more to have died since then.

My Grandpa is allowed to walk his hall with a mask since he is the only one on his hall that walks
Hopefully they start letting them be more social after the 2nd dose
ETA
That’s awesome he’s still walking 3 miles a day

He has been upbeat most of the time but got downright giddy when they got to go back to the dining room and although he refused to play bingo when he first got there he realized how social it was and started loving it. The social vs COVID balance is so difficult in these facilities.
He is still in excellent physical shape before COVID we played 2 rounds of golf a week and we walked and he carried his clubs (no roller cart). Not being able to play together has been the worst part of this whole ordeal for both of us. I've talked to the administrator but they still have no directive about leaving the facility after getting both doses.

Don’t ever recall hearing that the vaccine is a 100% sure thing.
People die every day that have been treated for all kinds of illnesses.

100% of people who take the vaccine will die after taking it.

Will not be taking the vaccine due to not knowing how it affects fertility
I encourage all OTers to get vaccinated for exactly the same reason.

That comes out a roughly .000001 fatality rate vs. somewhere between 1-2% from the virus. You’re going to get one or the other so...

I got the COVID vaccine yesterday. It was a bigger suppository than I expected.

My father-in-law was in a nursing home due to dementia. He got the vaccine last week. He died from Covid Thursday.
Did he get COVID from the vax? Most people who get COVID last more than 2 weeks. Did they give him HCQ or the Invermectin? IF not, then someone needs to talk to his doctor and ask why he did not receive these treatments.

Impossible with mRNA vaccines.

No shite, because most people who have gotten the vaccine are over 65 and/or have preexisting health conditions. If they’re doing their job right, then 55 people who have gotten the vaccine would have already died.
I know people with pre-existing conditions that have been told they can not take the vax. It is odd that they are giving vax to people who may have compromised immune systems.
