this is misleading as hell.

many of these people currently had the virus when they were vaccinated.

also, first dose is about 85% effective, so you will expect some people to still die.

Also, it takes about 1-2 weeks for the vaccine to start to really work.

This bugs me.

My father-in-law was in a nursing home due to dementia. He got the vaccine last week. He died from Covid Thursday.

No shite, because most people who have gotten the vaccine are over 65 and/or have preexisting health conditions. If they’re doing their job right, then 55 people who have gotten the vaccine would have already died.

With the usual incubation period it's likely that your father in law already had been exposed to covid before he got the vaccine.

Possible. 48 total residents and staff got sick not long after the vaccine was administered.

It's highly unlikely that he got the vaccine and then got sick and died all within a week. It's also impossible for the mRNA vaccines to "cause Covid."


I'm sorry for your loss, but it's honestly probably just horrible timing.

Yeah, so someone introduced Covid to the facility probably a week or so before the vaccine was administered.

That’s it? Given the focus on vaccinating the elderly (which makes sense), I’m surprised it’s not higher.
