I've thought about this a lot. I need to get a dashboard cam.

You run down one dude, flee the scene, call the police. By that time his friend has picked up his gun, and they report you as running down a pedestrian.

Serious question - Do you guys ever think about moving when you’re legitimately basing your car choice off of crime? I’d imagine you think about crime when deciding about others things, like wearing a watch or ubering instead of driving.

I moved from uptown to Old Metairie and know lots of Lakeview / uptown people who have moved or are planning to. If I leave Old Metairie it’s out of LA, but I don’t really want to leave because this is home and I love it.

She's a target because she's a woman. They aren't chopping these cars so pretty beat up I don't think has as much of an impact.

I have winter clothes in the car and that's it. Nothing beyond a phone charger.

Armed sometimes

Probably only the top 50 restaurant you can name.
Oh and probably Brennan's which is debatable.

The guys over at r/NewOrleans don't see the connection between Jason Williams and this.

Smart thing to do. I had one during our "no money bail" and "catch and release" crime spree.

When the laws were changed, amazingly the crime rate dropped dramatically and you can actually park and walk downtown again.

Honest to god, I hope every one of the “Pandemic is making people desperate!!” posters get pistol-whipped and their Subaru stolen.

Yes. Years ago off Tulane Ave. Dude couldn't drive a manual and couldn't get away.

DA told me he was a male prostitute that left the hospital a few blocks away to get a car to bring his gf and their new baby home. Lol/terrible

Over 20 arrests, 3rd time being arrested for armed robbery, served 2 years and I think 4 months.

I'm sometimes going into some very secured areas where it would be a big problem if they found a gun on me.

Alternative is leaving it in the car for maybe 10 hours, which I'm not the biggest fan of

Yes. I've loved the city ever since moving here after school, but it is too much. The carjackings recently, but particularly this weekend, has finally sent me over the edge. I worry about my wife going to the gym or for a run alone at this point.

This city has no hope, it is only going to get worse. The northeast transplants can have their "Nawlins" LARPing and deal with the consequences of the progressives they voted into office.

was driving around uptown yesterday for the first time in a year or so. It's a prison. Traffic cameras everywhere, the streets are as bad as ever, the shitty areas, the cramped living. and the specter of crime just makes it so off-putting.

Same here. I was driving around my old hood last weekend (Uptown and Broadmoor). Any attempt to drive through a non- major thoroughfare resulted in offroading through potholes and long neglected construction areas that were practically flooded by the drizzling rain. I guess I should be thankful that the nasty weather reduced my chances of being a crime victim.

Any wistful thought or nostalgia about living in New Orleans finally breathed its last breath. Disgusting place. Once had distinctive culture. Not so much any more. Certainly not enough to enter Orleans Parish.

I think about it all the time. My wife doesn't want to move.

The market is crazy right now so I could get a nice dollar for my house...but then I have to buy one in JP which is astronomical, and my house isn't that far from being paid off.

But yeah I think about it a lot.
