Because the world operates based on the idea that a high number of people will get this virus. At 3-4% mortality rate (pace virus currently holds) and even 100 million positives.. you’re talking about 3-4 million people dying, that’s a scary thought if it doesn’t slow down and drags out for a long time.

Technically, it should double every 4 days, but with the availability of test kits it may skew the results to greater than that.

You realize the average day of death after contracting the disease is over 18 days right?

If that’s correct, then I’m wrong - it WON’T double every day for two weeks. That would be insane.

It’s gone from 1 to 51 in five days. Two of the biggest population centers, Lafayette and Baton Rouge, are only just now really ramping up testing. New Orleans is still not remotely testing everyone they can.
Let’s be clear. Way over 1,000 people already have this. And in two weeks it’ll be way over 10,000. It’s just a matter of how many get tested

There are probably hundreds of people in BR that have it. How many people have the symptoms and just ride it out and never see a doctor? I'd bet more than actually go to one.
