If it works and it keeps me from having to be around fat bodies, I'm all for the drug.

But I'm an old school retired 1SG. If you're active enough then you can eat whatever you want, I'll run those calories off your fat arse.

The Food and Drug Administration (FDA) says Ozempic can cause ileus, when the intestines become blocked. In rare cases, this can prove fatal if the contents contaminate the body, which can cause a condition like sepsis.

Reports to the FDA's FAERS system have linked 51 fatalities to weight-loss drugs popularized by celebrities. The reports, which are not verified, were filed for users of Ozempic, Wegovy and other drugs that use semaglutide - the active ingredient in the weight-loss shots.

just talked to my doctor about this.

he said its really rare to have the blockage issue, like 1 in a million.

but he said they dont have anything better to replace it with. he expects ozempic will just remove whats bad because the weight loss is a side effect they dont need if its a problem.

cant say its related, but my prescription refill is on back order, so that is kinda weird

So if they die.. less cost

If they lose weight… less cost

You should now understand how it works

The better question is how many of those 51 deaths were people who were even using the drug specifically for weight loss, because these were very popular diabetes drugs long before they found out non-diabetics could lose weight on them.

...kind of like the example from that shitty article in OP

yea for liek the last 15 years the drugs have been used for diabetes and suddenly they are dog shite according to the OP. because the fat fricks of the OT love to shite on anything that is useful

and op apparently isnt very good at math because simple statistics would tell you chance of this happening is almost zero....i mean about the same as getting liver failure from Tylenol.

TLDR: OP is a dumbass and makes the exact opposite point he thinks he is making.

Why is this one of the first posts in every threat on these drugs, often before any of said "haters" show up.

I think it's fine to sneer a bit at those who shortcut to losing weight vs those who do it naturally and via merit. And normal for there to be skepticism for miraculous drugs providing results.

well what about the fat fricks of the OT who come here and sneer while still being fat fricks?

because that will be 99% of the post bashing the medicine

Where does Mounjaro fit in this class of drugs....Same? Different? What's the deal?

well its a glp1 + another agonist so pretty much same and chance of having severe reaction like this is practically zero.

GLP-1 agonists are fantastic medications for glycemic control. There are nary a downside I’ve seen in T2DM patients. In terms of weight loss, I think a better diet and regular exercise is better in the long-term. The best exercise in my experience is the addition of a walking program for patients that are able, usually in excess of the AHA recommendations of 150 minutes a week. GLP-1 agonists do make those efforts, as in the change in diet and the addition of a walking program specifically, much more pronounced in the targeted population, but I’d wager there there are diminishing returns in non-diabetic populations.

These drugs have good results for weight-loss, but I do wonder to what degree that those who receive it for weight-loss alone are also at risk for several other metabolic syndromes. As in, the target population that wants to lose weight for aesthetic purposes is much smaller than the population who could potentially develop into people with chronic medical conditions. In that sense, the medications could be considered ‘metabolic prophylaxis’ of sorts.

I disagree.

at my biggest I was 345, and I started a diet program a few months before the Pandemic, and I dropped to 175 in about 12 months. all it took was healthy eating, no high Carbs, no sugars, no junk food, candy and soda's.

so I disagree - using it to kick start a program is a crutch at best. it is all decision. you either want to get better or you do not. in the time i lost that weight, I got over confident and gained back to around 250.

I am going back to what I did before, and i know i will lose the weight back off again - and it will stay off.

There's no free lunch; however, if they are already taking a weight loss drug I have questions about their health to begin with.

They’ll create a drug to treat the symptoms.

Win/win*

*not actually a win for the patient.
