There's a post about it on the OB but this one is to discuss the ridiculously low bond set for numerous counts of attempted vehicular homicide caught on video.

quote:

Jefferson Davis Parish – A 57-year-old Roanoke man is accused of attempting to run pedestrians over that were catching crawfish in a roadside ditch in Jefferson Davis Parish. On April 18, 2019, deputies were called to LA Hwy. 26 and LA 1126 in reference to the incident, according to Chief Deputy Christopher Ivey, spokesperson for the Jefferson Davis Parish Sheriff’s Office. Deputies were provided a video of the vehicle driving on the shoulder of the roadway near eleven pedestrians, including children, stated Ivey. The vehicle and driver had left the scene before deputies arrived.

Aren't bonds based on the crime and what that person can reasonably pay?

Pretty sure there are rules on bonds.

He was arrested on misdemeanor aggravated assault.

Hence the low bond

attempted vehicular homicide

Vehicular homicide is when someone kills someone while drunk driving. Attempted vehicular homicide isn’t a thing. Because if someone was drinking and driving and ATTEMPTING to kill someone then they would just call that attempted murder.

He was arrested for assault, not attempted homicide.

I haven’t seen the video. I’m not opining on that.

I’m merely telling you why the bond was low and that attempted vehicular homicide wouldn’t be the charge anyway

was he just going to herd them back into his private ponds once the water level returned to normal? Are those crawfish branded? Tagged? as livestock is?
