No it won't. Many hospitals have been making it mandatory for a few years now. This isn't anything new.

What do you expect from people that elect Al Franken to the US Senate and Jesse Ventura governor?

It is mandatory at Scruffy's hospital.

These retards are going to end up bringing back polio and make HiB (epiglottitis) more common.

What happened to the right to refuse, as a patient? Does that not apply to medical workers? Science isn’t even sure the flu shot you are getting will prevent you from getting the flu, since it might be a different virus than the one focused on. It’s a $$$ making sham!!!

I work at a large healthcare system and it’s not mandatory but it’s certainly frowned upon to refuse it.

It isn't mandatory at my hospital...yet. Everyone has until Nov 30th to get their flu vaccine. After that, if you don't get it you have to wear a mask anytime you set foot on the hospital campus or other sites until flu season is over(you can only remove your mask when you are eating). Last year our flu season ran late so those people wore masks until mid April.

The religious exemption is for all vaccinations. Not just the flu. Are you saying that MMR isn't legit either?

No, workers aren’t patients. Workers could potentially infect everyone in the building, and could kill people with weakened immune systems. They signed up for it when they took the job. Healthcare workers can not be sick at work and must take every precaution to make sure they aren’t. If the shot is mandatory, get it.

Umm....the shot is completely free to all employees. The hospital pays for the vaccines.

Technically those workers still have the right to refuse...it's just that the hospital has the right to terminate your job for doing so. They feel you place the patients at jeopardy (rightfully so).

Why are people surprised when they get fired for doing something they were told they’d get fired for if they did it?

They’re called rules. Follow them or pay the consequences.

Seems to me that the rates of reimbursement for Medicare are higher if a certain percentage of employees are given the flu shot.

This. Almost all inpatients are swabbed on admission. If positive it is treated or at least documented. If swabbed again later and it’s positive after the original was negative, it’s probably a hospital acquired infection and nobody gets paid.

They stopped giving the nasal dose because it was ineffective this year.

We are forced to get it here. Forced to get a flu shot to protect patients, but I am typing this from work sick as hell with flu like symptoms because calling in sick is the end of the world. Literally every staff member here is sick this year with something.

There won’t be any legal action.

Can you live in a dorm without proof of certain immunizations?

Can you attend public schools without certain immunizations?

Join the military? Travel overseas?

Scruffy is uninformed. Maybe if Scruffy stopped the sophomoric practice of referring to itself in the 3rd person and did some reading, Scruffy wouldn't be so stupid.
