In our home we are accepting of all races, religions, and sexual orientation.

Why are these three things lumped together? Accepting someone of a race is a far cry from accepting all religions and sexual orientations. I vehemently reject all religions except Christianity (to the extent it's even a "religion"). I also reject all sorts of sexual proclivities and don't want my kids exposed to them.

It doesn't mean I hate people of other religions or based on what they do with their bodies. But I don't "accept" their practices.

On the other hand, if I fail to accept someone based on his or her race, yes I'm a bigoted racist piece of shite.

Very different animals.

It depends on how she defines drinks a lot and often, but I have no issue with someone not wanting a kid to go to a person's house if they're drunk idiots screaming at their kids.

I feel old.. Because it seems like so much has changed since I was a kid. I had cousins (they were brothers) who I would go over to their house or they came to my house to sleep on a regular basis. Once I got a little older, there were a few friends houses where it was not a big deal if I slept over there.. Especially during the summer.

If we were playing and it got too dark I'd just stay over for the night. My parents were a little strict when it came to me asking if someone could sleep over. They didn't like me to just spring it up on them and I made the mistake of asking them in front of the person I was asking if they could sleep over. They always told me to never do it and the one time I did.. Well.. I made sure not to accidentally do it again.

I never got molested or sexually abused. One of my good friends did have two older sisters. One was a HS cheerleader the other was okay and only two or three years older than us, but I told him that I liked his sister and he went back and told her.. I didn't know it until one night I slept at his house and she started messing with me.. She started off coming up to me and rubbing my hair and was all like "Oh you are so handsome".

One time, when that song "i touch myself" was popular, it came on and she turned it up and came in her brother's room and sat on the bed and started rubbing all over herself like the girl did in the video while we were playing nintendo. That's when she told me that her brother told her that I liked her and proceeded to ask me if I touch myself when I think about her..

Damn, this subject is bringing back old memories.

How and why did you come across this blog?

It’s her prerogative to write it and some of it is spot on yet common sensical.

Well, you make some good points but “vehemently” rejecting all other religions is a bit strong.

I'm not sure it was strong enough.

Eta: I mean, if Christianity is what it claims to be then...

See eg Paul on Galatians 1:9

This sounds like all of the fathers and half of the mothers I knew growing up. Fine people

Hell, the neighbor I spent the most time with, growing up, was from a coon-arse family from Lafitte. They had their .410s, their 12 gauges and what-have-you right there in the walk-in closet in his room, along with their shell buckets and hunting wear.

We didn't touch a thing.

We had guns laying all over the place in the house I grew up in. Most of my friend's parents did too growing up. It was unusual at all.

Isn’t the fact that she assumes in her article that the only racists are white (or at least not black), or that only white people are reading her article, or that she assumes only white people spend the night with other white people make HER a racist?
