5% of people under 30 claim to be transgender (The Hill)

Roughly 1.6 percent of American adults are now transgender or nonbinary, according to a 2022 survey.
That number is higher still among young adults, with 5 percent of people under 30 now identifying their gender as different from the one assigned them at birth.

So is this a choice or are they "born that way"? If you claim they are born that way - there needs to be an explanation on the sudden boom. Is it chemicals / plastics in the water/food supply? You just don't have a massive uptick in birth defects without cause. No different that thalidomide.
Or maybe it's fake? It's a fad that people are claiming for attention?

I think its a mixture of born that way, and people seeking attention.
The rise I'd say is due to it being more widely accepted now.

I think the vast majority is this but much more insidious. Instead of disenchanted youth simply rebelling and forming counter-culture groups as throughout history, it appears to be society's dregs, lowlifes, and pervs who have co-oped the trans movement to condone their behavior, gain status, seek revenge, and make themselves untouchable.

I know two parents who had kids come to them and claim to be transgender. Both same age. 1 was my sons best friend from elementary school (they went to different HS). His parents basically disowned him.
The other is a coworker, he embraced it and calls his daughter his son now. I’m just thankful I never had to deal with this with either of my sons. Both are very masculine and traditional, even a bit old school (yes ma’am no ma’am, hold the door for women, men should protect females, pink is for girls) types
