An hour of pedaling can meet a rural household’s electricity needs for 24 hours, according to Manoj Bhargava, CEO of 5-hour Energy maker Living Essentials. This includes running lights, a small fan and charging mobile devices.
great if you are in a 3rd world country or Alabama, but this will not power an A/C, range, refrigerator, water heater, ect
lights, fan, phone charger, all low watt appliances

Ummm which is why he's giving to people in India that don't have any power?

didnt they already make this w them flashlight/radios you got the spinner to generate power?
Yeah, I don't think this is new tech as much as a new way to access/scale it. Someone already mentioned a camp, this also seems like an alternative to a generator during a hurricane. And for the people that exercise every day already, maybe they can plug the battery into the house and have your daily workouts reduce your electric bill.

I think this means a rural household in India which is the first market.
That means it needs to power 1 light bulb and a hotplate if they are well off.
Or maybe his plan is to have billions of poor Indians peddling for our electricity for us. I like.

The OT used to have some really smart people posting on it.

To put that in perspective, most incandescent light bulbs were 60 watts. You power a 60 watt light bulb for far less than 1 hour by pedaling for 1 hour.
If they are going for efficiency, then they aren't using incandescent bulbs
Just sayin

At first I was like "HA what a loser. That stuff doesn't take shite for electricity.
And then I read:

bikes will be targeted at India
Then I was like ohhh, that may actually be useful over there.

This couldn't work
