Those would likely sell better if they didn't look like something I drew in 5th grade.

The Reo will be a more modern take with a modern engine and some limited electronics. We'll see if they survive.
I queried ChatGPT. The results were that it found no news, no industry articles, no registration, and no regulatory registration. It did find a recent trademark application for REO by REO Industries, Inc., filed June 12, 2026, but the listed goods/services in that result were signs and automobile financing.

It did find a current ArtStation hiring post seeking a concept vehicle designer in Dallas for an SUV, crew-cab pickup, and flatbed work truck.

My son is studying mechanical engineering and aerodynamics with an emphasis in automotive design. I'm sharing this with him to see if anyone has been approached at the universitiy's internship fairs.

The engine isnt really the biggest issue. Its more expensive than a non-emissioned carburetor engine, sure. Not a whole lot, and generally the fuel savings and reliability improvements make it worth it to have a "modern" engine (modern being fuel injection, not all the hypermiling crap we have now). Its the sum total of all the regulations that kill you on vehicle pricing. Backup cameras, TPMS, air bags, crash tests, CARB emissions, etc. That drive the price to the moon.

Much of the car world thinks this is a straight-up scam.

I feel like I can already predict the script....

Tease this thing for a bit.
Rake in a bunch of $25 reservation fees.
Radio silence until after expected production date.
"Development is delayed, production slated to begin 2031"
No one really cares because it's just $25, and those who request refunds fine it not worth the $25 headache to pursue.
Kick the can down the road and eventually disappear like a fart in the wind.

Interior and body will cost you an extra $45,000.

I have an early 90s I bought for $3500 and a SXS too, both for hunting and trail riding nobody is daily driving an old Toyota any distance. There’s a market for something like that or they wouldn’t be selling Roxor Jeeps. Biggest difference where I live is the truck is street legal and the SXS is not, truck has heat, truck locks, and I can drive it to a gas station instead of hauling gas all year.
