My son came home from school today and said a kid in a 4th grade class knelt for the national anthem and the teacher said or did nothing.

First, if you were a teacher would you have put him on the spot and had him explain why he was kneeling knowing his reasoning would be either completely flawed or a regurgitation of something his parents told him? And second, would you allow it as a parent?

It’s a public school but they lean heavily conservative. I’m not sure what the rules are but they also may not have known how to react. If you stop it, all hell could break loose. If you take no action, you get it from the other side as to why not.

Who cares? It's not your job or the teachers to get involved with that. The moment that teacher says or does something, the parents go blabbering to news outlets and social media.

4th grade? So this was in school then? Seems like it's the teacher's problem then.

Lol I’m not getting involved. Just thought it would make good conversation here.

Regardless of part 2 of my query, make that little bastard kneel on dried bits of corn for the duration and then when he whines, tell him would you rather loose a limb, your life, kneel or fricking stand like an American?

Assuming public school, teacher is an employee of the government

An agent of the government cannot compel a person to take part in a government worship ritual as per the 1st Amendment

When I was in elementary school we had an Egyptian exchange student in our class for half the year and he didn't stand during the anthem. Of course, he wasn't a citizen so I guess that's why he was allowed to do that. But anyway, kids are going to copy what they see on tv. I doubt the kid even knows what he's doing.
