You do know this is coming straight from the parents, right?

Maybe. I'd say it's coming from the kid seeing his favorite player do it on tv. The parents might have agreed with it, but he's probably imitating a player.

This story is total bullshite but I am cracking up at the thought of a school where the national anthem is played every morning before class and one random 9 year just decides to kneel.

I see he's getting taught well at home. I bet his parents wanted him to come home and say that the teacher or school did something so they could make a fuss about it and try and get their 15 minutes of fame. Disgusting

If it's true, he needs to tell his son to make friends with that kid.

A 9 year with that total lack of give a frick is either going to be a rich entrepreneur or on death row one day.

Yea other than giving the kid a death stare and maybe if you really wanted to drive home the point making some comment afterwards about thanking to those that showed respect not much the teacher can do.

You'd learn to give a frick real quick once I slapped some respect into you, boy.

knowing his reasoning would be either completely flawed or a regurgitation of something his parents told him?

Kinda broad mindset you have there on the possible reasons for him kneeling. For all we know he could've asked his parents why are people kneeling for the anthem and his parents could've told him why the originator (Colin Kaepernick) started doing so last year. Kid could've made his own mind up to do so.

There is no law that requires anyone to stand during the national anthem. And I hope there never will be or we will cease to be the USA.

There actually is federal law that dictates a standard of conduct. Of course it's not really enforceable, but it is there. 36 US Code 301.

A Civilized, functioning society depends on it's citizens displaying a certain level of conduct, regardless of the law, or it will sink into third world chaos. Of course kneeling won't topple the country, but it is a symptom.

Beat the shite out of:
The kid
The teacher
The parents.

In that order.

Sad that parents are brainwashing their children to kneel for the anthem.
Sad that parents are brainwashing their children to stand for/respect the anthem.
Let them figure it out on their own as they age.

What the frick did you just say? You think our service men and women risking life and limb for your freedom is getting "a little old"? I wake up every morning at 3:30, stand up, and listen to our National Anthem for 4 straight hours without breaking eye contact from the star spangled banner I have hanging in my bedroom. Then I go down to the VA hospital and give handjobs to all of the wounded vets free of charge you ungrateful commie piece of shite
