TBF there's a lot open to interpretation and you can find something in the bible to support just about any doctrine. Even the most fundamentalist sects don't take everything literally.

Why do you look at the speck of sawdust in your brother’s eye and pay no attention to the plank in your own eye[quote] Catholics have homosexual pedophile priests. All churches on Sunday are full of sinners(drunks, gamblers, adulterers, gluttons)…as Christ intended. Why does the “sin” of homosexuality get so much more publicity and rancor? If churches weren’t led by sinners, we’d have no churches. [quote]For all have sinned, and fall short of the glory of God

All sinners are called to repent. In the article, a pastor calls homosexuality “divine love,” therefore implying it is not a sin.

Do you want to quote Romans 1:27 or 1 Corinthians 6:9-11?

You seem to have left out the words Christ spoke when he addressed the prostitute who had been caught in the act and brought before him. Her accusers had departed and none remained to push the issue. When he addressed her, he didn't tell her go out and live as you will and then come to church on Sunday because we need sinners in leadership positions there. He told her to "Go, and sin no more."

Christ didn't intend for his church to be filled with drunks, gamblers, adulterers, gluttons, etc. He intended for his church to be filled with saints - people who may have formerly been one or more of these things, but who have repented of that life and died to it to be born again to a new life.

No question churches are filled with and by sinners. However, in marriage Scripture is very clear - man and woman - with Christ as the Head of the union. Condoning same gender marriage is inconsistent with Scripture and worse; makes a mockery of Christ and the bride (the Church). Secondly; no clergy should be clergy if they engage in serial misconduct irrespective the sin

Not without add, subtracting or taking out of context. It’s pretty clear on the important matters. Problem is people are on a happiness quest not a truth quest.

Why does it bother so many people what a church they don’t go to decides to do?

Habitually-lapsing Methodist here: I know a couple of very dedicated devout pastors who have really struggled with this issue.

They don’t want kids exposed to drag queens or encouraged to mutilate themselves, but they question denying committed couples the sacrament of marriage when there are questions as to the applicability of Leviticus post-Resurrection and translational ambiguity regarding homosexuality/pederasty.

PCUSA's national org makes the UMC look like the Christian Coalition

This is a stupid argument

Why worry if people who aren't you get robbed?

Because unlike the alcoholics, gamblers and adulterers, the homosexuals will make no effort to repent.

It’s a focus issue, but other areas like divorce get glossed over like they are no big deal. Southern Baptists only let Charles Stanley continue because he agreed not to re-marry. There are many scriptural issues in the modern church.

What? On the church level I disagree. With regards to US law, I don’t see how same sex marriage could be banned. The US is not a theocracy.

That article is poorly written. It is not really clear what they voted to do.

Are they leaving to create a new church that adheres to the Book of Discipline which does not accept gay clergy or marriage?

Or are they leaving so they can have those things?

My local UMC will NOT be allowing anything that is non-Biblical. If it does, I will find a church that holds fast to the Word, and pray for those who are leading their flocks astray.
