Once you get a 3rd offense its a felony. You get a 4th and you should spend some significant time behind bars end of story.

It all depends on when you get them. A first offense can come off your record with the diversion program. So your 2nd you will actually be charged with a 1st. If 10 years passes in between any you can only be charged with the previous amount. So You can technically get 3 in a 10 year period and only be charged with 1st offense that third time.

I believe she has proven to have the ability to drive drunk without being a threat to the public.

People like this should be fined then use that money to give them free Uber rides at 10pm.

Less than one mile from her home to a substance abuse hospital/clinic.

I'd like to say "invest money in public transportation," but public transportation is pretty stigmatized among people from Baton Rouge with funny names. She'd probably rather risk it than get within 100' of a bus.

True.

Not true, unless there's been a really big change to the law.

DWI law actually seems pretty damned strict to me. Yeah, there are losers like this chick somehow still free, but they're very much the exception. I've worked several places where even a first DUI was a strict "no hire."

5 isn't even top 10.

Louisiana Bruh. Back when I was following the arrests from the paper the all time record I saw was 14.

DWI lawyers advertise on TV and Radio.

I hear more people in this state bragging on how they got and/or got out of a DUI's than I hear people bragging about their travel ball kids.

Louisiana's "Tough on drinking and driving" campaign is a miserable failure. A joke really.

Keep her in jail forever is a good start

DUI 2: 5 yrs prison
DUI 3: LIFE
