You make $3k a day and only put $1,800 in your 401k? Tisk tisk
Between this, the not knowing what buying above market value is, and everything else you say, no shot you are really a CPA or in the financial world

1,800 a month would out you at $21,600. He is basically maxed out….

A 401K is a marathon not a sprint.

Inflation is already at a 4 year low and it's going to get even lower, so adults are in charge.

I disagree and I'm down $150k. I've been in it long enough to see this happen 6 times. Don't panic, don't make any adjustments, and just ignore the short term loss/gain. You're in for the long haul and if you heed my advice you'll be fine.

When you go to performance and sort to max time your portfolio is down? No one that has had a 401k for over a few years should be in the negative. The market has gone up too much. You might be in the wrong stuff too. Here is the chart for the total Market. Can you show us how this has gone down over time and you're down $150k? Again this could only happen if you're invested in the wrong funds or you just started a few months ago.

You keep repeating the same idiotic thing. It’s incredibly easy to understand what they mean.

Or do you think you’re just being smart for your repeated trope? You aren’t

It's not idiotic. Their 401ks are likely not down. It's pointless to even look at performance based on a few weeks let alone post on a message board about it. It's misleading. OP is likely not down 8500.

Not sure how you could be down this much unless you started your 401k this year.

People never remember their basis or the value 5 years ago. They only remember & reference the high value and therefore calculate their "loss" from that amount.
As I since you know, it's the long game that wins and lots of moving parts are in play that could fundamentally improve the US financial fortunes for generations. We were heading down a dangerous slope without anyone having the guts to correct the stupid mistake politicians have been making for 50 years.
I think we will come out in much better shape in 12 mths.
