You make $268k a year and got $20k for relocation, yet you quit because you refuse to register your vehicle and get a LA drivers license...
If you knew Andrea, you’d totally expect that outcome.

So you're saying there's a CTO position available? How would one apply for that position?
Asking for a friend...

Has to be tax related. Makes no sense otherwise.
Because Illinois is a tax haven?

What are the odds that the four "best people" are friends with the VP they report too????
It's gotta be pretty high. It happens all the time.

Not likely in this circumstance.

Andrea is a transformational leader. She refuses to accept status quo. Which is great but her style borders on short tempered and confrontational. She was brought in to modernize several LSU systems. The other people from Illinois were brought by her for that purpose as well.
There were lots of great things Andrea was doing to push entrenched LSU entities into the 21st century.
I’d imagine the “tipster” that alerted LSU to the residency problem was someone that had their feathers ruffled by Andrea.
Shame too bc I actually liked Andrea. She is driven, judgemental, and a savage in meetings
Andrea was the shitkicker LSU desperately needed.

All four were from Illinois. I am 100% positive that the taxes in LA are less than in IL.
Illinois is one of the states experiencing an exodus of tax paying citizens. These states are really starting to crackdown on loopholes people have been using. It might have something to do with taxes.
Also, Illinois is in terrible shape with their pension plans. Crooked politicians buying votes for decades by awarding unions with jobs and benefits is now crippling the state.
The state wants to buy out pensions as a partial remedy. It’s possible these 4 have recently retired and are accepting a buyout, but it is contingent on remaining in the state, or establishing residency in another state subjects them to a huge tax bill on a that buyout.

There are a lot of assistant vice presidents, associate vice presidents, directors, associate directors, etc., who don't do anything or know anything. Some of them can't even use any of the software programs

doesn't mean shite when you have no working knowledge of even the most basic operations.
This happens in the private sector too. I struggle daily trying to convince higher ups on things that go over their heads, because they dont know the core of the company/customer/product.

If you are going to come into a huge system like LSU and steamroll the natives, you better be doing it right. Obviously she was not doing it right; nor did she care that she was doing it wrong. That is poor leadership. Leaders do it by example, they walk the walk, not just bark the talk and being savage in meetings.
Negative reenforcement only goes so far with qualified professionals, especially in IT when they can get a better jobs making more than at LSU.
Good leaders are servant leaders, they listen to their employees and put them in the best position to be successful, not be ill tempered and short with the people you are suppose to be serving.

If they could do that, why were they at the shitty job making peanuts?

People value different things; it is not always salary. Some want to work for LSU, relaxed environment, or great benefits. Typically they are not making peanuts for professionals. My previous comments stand on the importance of retaining good IT professionals. Negative reenforcement does not work long term.

That I agree with. I just questioned the ready mobility of the people who are in these departments.

I know of two people that where at LSU for a long time making about 65k and decided to leave. They now make about 90k doing the same job in BR. On network guy went from 70k to 90k for network skills. IT pros are in high demand, it is a stereotype that people work in higher ed because they cannot make it other places. Most are in higher ed for various reasons and they have skills.
