Wrong board

Most these schmucks can barely afford to send their kids to Ryan Theriot’s hitting academy

And this isn't to get "rid of the kids" it is to help broaden their experience to other areas of the country, teach them to do things on their own, and learn outdoor activities that I can't teach them. A couple of those camps teach the kids how to handglide, mountaineer, or white water kayak--I'm too old to learn those sports but want my kids exposed to it as well.

Correct. For the most part these summer camps aren't part of the "norm" for the majority of Louisiana people here so their way of understanding is to shoot it down as something that wealthy people do to get rid of their kids.

What years were you there?

Though I would say it used to be GOAT. It has gone downhill quite a lot in recent years.

Doesn't mean he hasn't stopped trying.

I went to Chosatonga in NC when I was a kid for like 3 summers. I loved it there. All outdoors in cabins, no electronics and I could’ve cared less despite being and still am a tech geek.

I think the guy who ran it at the time is retired now, but his sons run it and it is basically the same. That family is just really good people. Can’t recommend the camp or the family enough.

Be honest, it’s so you and the wife can get rid of the kids for 2 months

Lots of good camps in northern Wis and Minny.

Think Chitown was a counselor at one around Eagle River.

A lot would depend on age. Camp Chippewa in Minny will have older campers go out on 2 plus weeks canoe trips.

Camp Arawak in Argyle, New York is sweet. My friends were lucky to go there back in the day.

I was always scared of sleep away camps so my mom sent us to day camps outside of Pittsburgh in west PA.
